A much improved version of my Halloween shotgun, now that i have time to work on it more. Still working on the texture as you can see, what do you think?

I plan to shove this into FPSC i think.

Wow, that is unbelievable! I've been seeing some of your FPSC models around in the FPSC boards, and you are definitely a good modeler! I have to say, that this is one of the best models you've done yet. I'd love to see EAI hands rigged to it with the 870P animations. That'd be awesome!

Cheers! You deserve two beers!

lol, Nice work,

PWP

I've seen it all. Except for myself ever not failing at something.

Okay, it's not too bad but there are a lot of areas that need fixing.

First off I think looking at this texture there's no way it needs to be a 2048. The material and sharpness of the entire thing is way to blurry or low quality for a 2048. Make it a 1024 please.

-The base metal texture and scratches are not fully utizlizing the spec map.

http://www.dregsld.com/tutorialfiles/tutfiles/SpecularStudy.html

- The wood grains don't blend properly and they don't look like the right type of wood a shotty like that would have. Infact looking at this shotty, it's obviously a mossberg 500, which doesn't have any wood at all. The only wood is a long wooden stock variation.

http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=mossberg+500#page=0

-The barrel is the same type of metal as the rest of the gun. The foregrip was either plastic or metal.

-Texture looks cloudy/grainy. Looks like all you did was add a grain then use gaussian blur. The metal just seems to basic, think of dents and scratches, greasy hands or oil stains. Take a look at this one: It's a mossberg 590 but they should have similar materials.

- Final thing, Please don't render on black backgrounds, it makes it hard to even see a silhouette at all. At least a dark/mid grey.

Good points there, i wasn't really making a real shotgun, but my own design. Ignore the spec map aswell, that was just a basic spec map that i made at the start. as for the metal, no i didnt use Gaussian blur, soft overlays, but they are on too high of an opacity at the moment.

please hold on a moment, i am reuploading the images now.

Anyone else not able to see the first couple screens?

Although I can't see much of the model from the screens I can see, it looks quite good!

Use Tinypic. It's completely free, has no ads, has no limit to the amount of images you upload and it doesn't delete your stuff.

Can a smaller version (maybe with a copyright slapped on it so no copying) of the diffuse be shown? I'll emulate it with my texture

Ohhh so the specular map is just to add some form of dynamic lighting, instead of fully? Very clean UV btw

Smoothing the trigger is silly, the player's finger will most likely be covering it in the duration of the Shotty's time on screen.

The texture itself is very good.

Yeah, to be honest there is a lot more detail that i could have added, but this was for texturing practice.

Are the black lines fomr the UV? In that case you should try to hide them.

This looks promissing, looks great so far.
