Just downloaded the Alienware DBpro zip...at 303 Kb/s !!! Looks like you've tried to future proof your kit to some extent.

i downloaded it at about 2.5 kb/s !!!

lol, but yeah, at work we're fibre optic and whenever i download anything of this server it normally nears half of what our connection can actually do.

take into account that most large company websites (e.g. mircosoft), download at about only a third of the speed the connection can handle.

Yes, the TGC server gives me some of the best speeds I've seen, beating FilePlanet and FileFront all around the block. It's nice to tap the full potential of my ADSL every now and then

I think the fastest speed on my adsl was when I downloaded directX 9 from microsoft's website... was about 100kbps and I have a crappy variety of dsl..

www.speedguide.net has patches for the MTU if your machine was previously 56k then theres a good chance the settings are not optimised for broadband as well.

I jumped from 40k to 300k after first getting my cable on doing this.
