I want to move the entire box, not just draw a thick line down the screen. What am I missing?

Try putting dbCLS(); before the dbSync();

I had actually tried the dbCLS() before dbSync() earlier today... and it didn't change much... didn't think about putting it after. I will let you know what happens.

Well, my friends. I slapped dbCLS() after dbSync(), and I still get the same results... a rectangle that turns into a thick line when I press the down arrow.

(I went ahead and retried dbCLS() before dbSync() and reconfirmed my earlier experiment)

I appreciate the help. Any other suggestions?

I tried your code and putting dbCLS() after dbSync() worked for me.

well it should work I tried it and Marth said also that it works fine this way..
a little note you don't have to define the dbDownKey() function it's already defined I see u put int dbDownKey() that is not needed and nay be causing an issue

So I took out the int dbDownKey()... and then I tried it one more time.

I have included a screenshot of the problem.

Well, I really do appreciate the attempts to steer me in the correct direction, but it looks like I'll have to shelve this experiment for now (at least until I get a little more fluent in c++ and the workings of dark gdk).

If I ever stumble across the fix, I'll be sure to report my findings.
