On my fast dual core machine the following code takes 33 seconds to compile before it executes:

k#=3.0/2.0
print k#

wait key
end

I've seen this on other simple programs as well. There should be no reason for such a long delay.....

This is a pure guess: could your AV software be scanning the compiler and other files every time you compile?

Compilation of short programs is virtually instantaneous for me, so I'd guess it's something to do with your setup. Are your files in an unusual location perhaps?

Don't turn it off. Just whitelist the compiler and your created EXE. I'd imagine a program writing out an exe looks suspicious.
