Well, the title says it all. Is it possible to just move vertices in you animation without having to rig everything??

what program? if you use blender just seperate the objct into different pieces (select the vertices of the leg, arm, head etc.) and then rotate/move the piece to animate!

but the animations will not work in any game program, for the animations to work in fpsc or dark basic you have to have a riged skelition in an .x file.

it will work as long as you save it in a .x format although it is much harder to go back an edit anything if you don't rig it.

@mike5424

you have animated a non riged object, then exported it into a .x file. then loaded into dark basic, then it was moving with its animations? if so, how did you export it, ive tryed this with no luck. when i export it out from max then load in onto either fpsc or dark basic the animations will not play.

Well, the point is, I use DarkGDK. But how do I split my object into different pieces, all I want is a button to react as if its entering the computer, no movement, just all the butten vertices do decent into the computer. Because what I tried is to descend them in frame 11 and the bring them up in frame 21, but when I returned to 11 they where up again. So am I doing something completly wrong or am I forgetting to save its position or something?

i don't know about max but in blender when i select export -> .x i get some exporting options, one of them is "export animations" it exports the animation no matter what the file contains

maybe importing the file from max into blender then exporting will work?
