I've commented out several lines of the "DarkSDK.h" header file to remove unwanted libraries, but the file size remains at 1.94 megabytes.

This is due to another, duplicate, list of library references in "DarkSDK.lib". But altering that (in Notepad) induces an error. Notepad obviously corrupts files that have non-printable control characters.

How can I circumvent this and deactivate the spurious command sets (e.g. Basic 3D, Light etc.), thus reducing the overall EXE file size?

I don't think that manipulating the header file is going to anything to reduce what you pull from lib files unless the code you modify executes code or calls functions within the library. And that's not what header files typically do.
