After you get a chance to play each
BOTB entry, go over the following
criteria sheet (to be used as a guide); then select the one game that you believe to be:
The Very Best of the Best!
-
Originality: Is the game the same "run and gun" that is inherent with First Person Shooters; and if so, is there a new angle?
-
Frame Rate: Is there a severe amount of lag?
-
Level Design: Does the game's levels appear to "flow" well? Is it well thought out?
-
Lighting: Does the placement of the lights make sense? Is there a light source, or does it appear to come from "nowhere"? Do the lights compliment the atmosphere?
-
Entity Placement: Do you have entities scattered about an area for no reason? Do the entities make sense, when compared to the environment and theme of the level?
-
Custom Media: Is there any non-standard (comes with FPSC) media being used? Does it fit well with the environment and overall theme?
-
Sound Effects and Music: Sound effects play an integral role in any game. Placed at key moments in gameplay, they can really add to the depth of the gaming experience. Does the music used fit the mood of the game's theme? Do the sound effects enhance the gameplay?
-
Custom HUD: Was a custom HUD used (was there a HUD at all)? Does it fit with the overall look of the game?
-
Custom Menu: Was the menu using any custom elements? Was it easy to navigate?
-
Custom Load Screens: Were the load screens using a standard FPSC look, or were they unique? Did the developer use the opportunity to give you any info about the game or level (or any hints)?
-
Overall "Fun-Factor": Was the game fun to play?
