I was wondering if anyone knows if it were possible to open FPSC in Linux, with Wine or Crossover. I just installed Ubuntu and I'm having some issues getting the DX Runtime to work in Wine (I keep getting the error message that I need DX10 (why DX10 in FPSCx9?) when I try to open FPSC), but I keep getting an error. If I could install the runtime, I could gt into FPSC on Wine I bet.
Anyone been able to get through this problem?

EDIT: I just looked around I so far I see no way of getting DX10 on Linux, but can DX9 on Wine. The problem though that I don't get is why do I get that error for DX10 when this is FPSCx9???

you don't need DX10, it's likely a misreport. go to microsoft's website and download the latest version of X9 (august 09 I think)

Alright, that worked. But now I get an error at every startup of the program about it crashing randomly. I see it's a Wine problem so I'll go to the community there I guess.

If he's going to be investing time and money into a program such as FPSCreator (which is not supported by Linux), it would be make sense to use an operating system which does support it, such as Windows. Anyway, it wasn't directed at you - if you don't like my suggestion then don't comment on it. If you had read your own post, you would realize that your post is contributing nothing to this thread.

@racer13 fly, I hope you find the solution. But if you're serious about game making, it's definitely worth investing in Windows simply for compatibility reasons.

I'm not sure about Linux running FPSC, firstly due as it requires DX9, and secondly because Linux graphics capabilities aren't great, and so even if you did get FPSC to function it would be extremely slow.

Which version of Linux are you using? Best lof luck finding a solution

I am installing Linux Ubunuto 9.10 on a USB Drive of 16 GB and i think it is worthy to get all working.

@JRH: When you come on, not been on lately he? Would like to hear more about Welkin.

I'm going to make a few things clear here now, I have XP and Ubuntu 9.10, I have them dual-booted. I have been using FPSC for a very long time now in XP and I know completely of all the things in it. The problem though is that I'm having some issues getting XP to work right (network and booting issues) and I was just wondering for people to maybe help me on getting it to work in Wine or Crossover. I know it's not compatible, but I just was wanting help if anyone knew how I could get it to work in Wine or Crossover.
I have installed DX9 in Crossover (won't in Wine), and now I get this random crash error right when FPSC opens in Crossover (Map-Editor.exe). Other than that it's fine.
