Here's a pic of a few of the models Ive made over the past few years for my project. They're not textured because I don't have any skill making textures, and quite frankly, I don't really feel the desire to learn. I'm not a very artsy person, and can't make organic models very well (again, I'd rather buy organic models than make them myself).

Feel free to critique them.

they are all good, but i think you are straying away from extrusion and you are making many separate meshes on each object. They are also low detail which is understandable if thats what your going for, but overall nice job

Is that really a giant toilet with robot legs over near the jets?

@Master of Justice:
Yeah, I tried extrusion and found making objects from primitives then manually adding\deleting faces as needed worked better for me. I'm not going for low detail, but I do like the boxy look for my vehicles - a tank or whatever is made to fight, not look trendy.
Perhaps you have some pointers on using extrusion?
Thanks for the input

@Ortu:
Yes, it's a walking toilet designed to launch missiles from the tank while the cockpit is located in the bowl.

@Hassan:
Thanks, I also have a urinal and one that resembles an old metal garbage can. When we were first coming up with ideas for the game we wanted to have everything but the kitchen sink...well I drew one of those up too and modeled it.

Okay, some tips on extrusion:
1.use the cut tool dont use subdivision.
2.USE THE PERSPECTIVE VIEW(when selecting faces to extrude)! so many people i know only use side and top.
3.only extrude one face at a time.
4.delete unseen faces only after you are done with it
thats all i can think of now but ill think of more

Oops, sorry I forgot to say I'm using MS3D

Anyway, here is an attempt at creating a texture and doing some UV mapping:

I know the camo isn't mapped correctly on the body in some areas, but what do y'all think of the texture? I tried it without adding noise to make it look "bumpy" and it just looked too cartoony. I'm not going for photorealism here, just a decent look.

ok edit to rule 3. only extrude one face at a time unless your making a symmetrical object.

Again, why?

Was that directed at me? If so, it took my time on most of those models, and I'm not going for high polycount because I want the ability to display a lot of objects at once. The models do have LOD.

The only things I want smooth are things like aircraft, ship hulls, etc. I want the tanks and whatnot to be blocky. Or do you mean the faces themselves to look "smooth" - like smoothing out the areas I've circled? They look fine when textured, with a few exceptions (as can be seen in the textured image a couple posts earlier).

sigh: i recommend rendering in smooth or textured mode =P it will look all around smoother, and it shows how it will look like in game aswell.
