This is my first character! Made in Truespace 7.6, textured in Gimp. It is rigged for animation. Next job is to animate, that could take some time. I exported it in *.x format and it works in DB pro. It has 9306 verts. When I can aford it ill get zbrush and see if I can reduce the polys and make a normal map to keep the details. I still need to work on the textures to dirty up the armour to give it that lived in look.

Looks very good, not sure if the feet are small, or the camera lens is shrinking them.

Amazing! What's the poly count, and texure size (if any)?

Typos, they can't live without me.

At the moment each part of the armour is a separate model that is added to the each bone as needed. It could be heavily reduced in polys if I made it all one mesh and connected the body glove (the black suit) directly to the edge of each bit of armour. Then deleted all the hidden faces that are not seen.

I am planning on making a Star Wars game and I thought that if there were going to be a lot of the same character it is worth making them look good.

I am just learning so any good advice is welcome. =)

The poly count is 9438, the texture is 2048 X 2048.

My aim for the model was to have a high detailed model of fewer than 10k polys. It is mainly for off line rendering (cut scenes), but also I want to see what it would be like in a game setting and how much it would hit the fps. Once I have animated it I'll put a load of them in a scene and see how many I can have before it slows down.

it depends. are you looking for giant battles with 100's of storm troopers seen at ounce. if so i would suggest looking greatly into using LOD levels. it would greatly help. 10k is a little high but depending on your engine ect. it could be usable in game. this looks very good though.(i would suggest using a smaller texture size for the game though)

I will look in to LOD levels. It would be great to have lots of troopers in an epic battle, just for the fun of it =). I'm not sure what kind of game I'm going to make yet. I'm only just a beginner in DB pro and can't really do much at this stage.
