Sorry about the cryptic Title, i figured i'd try and make people curious enough to read this.

Im my school we have a the most stupid and bloody annoying filter system in the universe. It has filtered every peice of Chat software, message board, forums, that i can care to think of. It filter all sorts of code...but not this forum. A while ago when i was putting up my website i'm sure a read about a peice of code you could put into your website to overide a filter like the RM one in my school. Anyway, i have a forum on my own site and it's filtered by the school. This annoys me greatly. So i was wondering if you use this Filter overide code here, or if it's just a stupid error with the filter that let's me come on here. Anywa, my point is: this website is filter proof. Can you tell me how? -DivW

you have to write code that makes the server get the HTML for you, very hard.

Probably because it's a completely fresh forum design, it's not using Yabbse or any other pre-built forum - it's all coded by Rich. It's more likely that the filter is designed to look for key ingredients like standard Yabb PHP codes that make the forum stand out like a sore thumb. It might even just look for any site with a smilie and an LOL in it's database.

You don't need any other forums anyway, this forums good for everything from relationship advice to finding out what games to avoid, sometimes we even talk about programming!.

lol, that is true,

but anyway, the reason why it's filtered is because the filter looks for specific terms.

if you decided togo for a forum that not many people know about (like those boring text based ones), then you should be fine.

or you could edit your code if your forum. if it's, for example, phpBB, you could open the source and change all references to phpBB. i must add that for phpbb this is illegal, and shouldnt be done anyway (they should keep the credit for making the best free forum in the world), but im just using phpbb as an example...

If you really want to chat at school, you may try to create a chat programm with DarkBASIC

I'm using the Phorum php Forum. Thing is the guy who gave it to me and helped me set it up-it's not filtered on his website either, which is a real gutter. I think i know why though-he's edited the PHP file and taken out the "Powered By Phorum" logo in the corner. This is possibly why it's filtered. Does anyone know a way to edit the PHP script so that it's unrecognisable to a computer? I'd still give the Phorum dudes full credit tho, i'm not a code stealer. Well i could try taking out the code or if i really need to i could write my own, cos i just started figuring out PHP code today and it seems simple enough, can't figure out why FrontPage doesn't recognise it as an editable file type tho...right i'm rambling a little bit here. Anyone got any idea on how to make it less obvious to a school filter?

DivW - you can remove the phorum logo, you don't have to include it. It's a GPL forum. Just edit it out of the footer.php file with notepad or something.

Cheers,

Rich

Hang on, did u do Phorum? That's really cool if u did. It's made my website a lot more popular than it used to be-i clock around 5 hits a day at least, which is really good considering it's still under construction. Well thanks i just got my hands on Dreamworks MX so i'll probably use that. But i'll still give all the credit to the Phorum peeps. Thanks all If it works then i'll get back to you. And when i get my Team to actually fill in ther Profiles on my site then i'll put the link in my profile. Well thanks all i'll post back and tell ya all how it goes.

Well Dreamweaver MX wasn't what i expected it to be. Instead of seeing what you's programming, you get a box with PHP in it. Lame. But the Fireworks MX program is a gem! Havn't used it yet but i might just redo my site with it just to make it look better. Well anyway i got the forum working! YAY! All i had to do was remove the Phorum logo and change my directory from "Chat2" to "mmmm" so when i did that it all worked. Partially. It hasn't fixed my spelling, but it has the filter fooled for now. Which is great. Well thanks for all your help but don't let this post be dropped-i want to know if Rich made Phorum! Anyway i'll make sure that the guys at Phorum get all the credit cos without them my website would be 100% pure bollocks. Well that's all i'll get the URL posted one day when my team is sorted -DivW
