i dont like the textures, since it doesnt give the model a personality, gives the typical *slap on* feeling.. dunno how else to describe it.. the model looks really great though

The model(s) look good in the mesh side. As for the textures, it seems like they were fitted onto the model(s) after they were modeled, so the deformations/erosion doesn't fit into where it shows on the textures, giving it(as [Q]uik said) a *slap on* feeling. My suggestion, when working with pictorial textures, is to put the texture on before deforming the mesh so that it fits better.

You cant put your texture on before the mesh is deformed, it will stretch the hell out of the texture and cause you to re-uvmap it anyways.

All you have to do is load the uv map in photoshop (with black lines for the uv map and a white background), set it as a multiply layer, load in the image you want to use for the texture and put it beneath the uv map layer, and then using the clone stamp tool start making the surfaces of the rocks in the texture image follow along the UV map. It doesn't have to be perfect, just focus on getting the major rocks to follow the uv's.

Go in with some dodge / burning to highlight some of the areas that will be sticking out even more, and all should be fine.

I find the textures very rralistic, but as RUCCUS said, it'll look better if you used the dodge/burn tool to go in and give more depth to the texture. Could you post a wireframe of that model? I'd like to see which parts protrude and which parts are just optical illusions in the texture

cheers looking great
