Not to be a pest, but if you could change my name to "BearCDP" (minus the 2) I would be appreciative, my old account is named "BearCDP", but had to I create a new one since I used a different email address to order DGS. If you need to change the other one, you can just add "OLD" or whatever to the end of it.

Only if it's not too much trouble of course. Thanks in advance

YavinB, no. You can only set your forum name once, after that a mod has to change it.

Enough anyway, moderators have better things to do with their time than edit profile names - if it gets out of hand we'll just refuse to do it for anyone until something sensible is put in place. Maybe a request thread, where if you want that sort of thing done, want a thread locked etc, you can request in there - and we'll edit any post as and if we do it. But having it out of the way and for when there's nothing else to do is the main thing.

I thought it was frowned upon years ago (and stopped from being a user option) because of some people doing it for pranks? Plus it was generally agreed that it was annoying to try and remember who people were all the time. Personally I reckon there should be a few weeks or months after creating an account that you can change the name yourself, and then it is cast in stone as it were (unless a really good reason and Mod shows compassion).

Once in a long while I don't see the harm. But it does get confusing. I will not remember that Matuka is Aertic now. Well, I probably will now that I wrote it, but still. Just don't change your sig and your profile pic for a while and we should be able to follow it better

I wonder, if I am not annoying a mod to much, if someone can change my name from Maindric Reborn to Maindric, and change the old one to some random gibberish, or MaindricAbandoned, Whichever one.

To verify that it is truly me, let me post on that account here in a second.

(My old email was hacked so I do not used that account anymore in risk of the hacker getting into that account.

Oh, come on, why don't Jeku change his name to Giraffe while we're at it? Was annoying enough to see him change avatar

I can get that BearCDP and Maindric had good reasons to change, but honestly, I knew who Matuka was, but I'll hardly keep track of Aertic.
And I've no idea who Bukaidoman or JZ28 are; seeing as they signed up this year, maybe I didn't know before the name change either, but people who've been around for a while really shouldn't change names. Unless possibly explicitly declared somewhere, like in the signature for a while so that people get used to it.

So... people who joined before 2009, please think it through from everyone else's* perspective too before deciding on a name change.


* Or probably just mine
