Wrong.
PAY ATTENTION.
Yes the rules of the game say that you are always playing the game. However, because I do not play the game, I am not bound by its rules. See? ANYONE can escape if they do it correctly.
Look at these other rules of the game:
Upon remembering the game, you lose the game.
Upon losing the game, you must announce to everyone in the area that you have lost the game.
After that you are safe from losing the game for a period of 30 minutes, after 30 minutes is up you must announce your loss upon remembering the game, etc...
It is during those 30 minutes that one may escape.
Since you are immune to losing the game during this period, you are technically immune to all its rules. After all, the rules state that you are ALWAYS playing and that upon remembering the game you must announce it. However, during those 30 minutes you do NOT lose the game if you remember it. That means you are IMMUNE TO THE RULES.
Now, normally the rules would come back into affect after the end of the 30 minutes. BUT! If, during those thirty minutes, you choose to stop playing the game, (Which you CAN do during that time, since the rule saying that you are always playing is not in effect at that time) you are no longer bound by its rules, and therefore the rule that you are always playing will never affect you again.
A similar situation would be this:
A pro baseball player has a contract that states me may never stop playing or retire, that he cannot win any games, and upon speaking or thinking of the game of baseball, he must
play a game of baseball. The contract also says that upon losing a game of baseball (Since his contract forbids winning) that he gets a 30 minute rest period before the terms of the contract come into affect once again, and he must play upon speaking or thinking of baseball.
Now, since there is that 30 minute period before the the terms of the contract come back into affect, he is not bound by those terms during this period. Therefore, he could, during those 30 minutes, retire from baseball, thus severing the contracts hold on him. If he no longer plays, the contract defining the terms of his playing no longer matters.
TL: DR version: YOU CAN STOP PLAYING THE GAME AND NEVER LOSE IT AGAIN. YOU STILL CANNOT WIN, BUT YOU CAN KEEP FROM LOSING.
