Dark GDK / Water Effect (2D)

Hi Guys,

I Need some tips . What is the best way to create 2d water effect in 2d tiled game?.
I dont want to use animated sprites... so is there any better way?

You could make an image that looks like water and draw it on top of everything else (you would have to make it somewhat transparent). You could also do 2 images and have one draw on top of the other with one being more transparent than the other. You would basically make the images move around to get a water effect.

There are probably better ways of achieving this that other people would know about. This is just the first method that I thought about

Besides, I'm still pretty much a noob in programming, so...
