I have done a bit of unrealed for UT2003 and i was surprised by the size of the textures. Some of them are 1024x1024. I was wondering if having such large and highly detailed textures would be alright to use in DBP. Or will my prog be really slow. Or will it just not work.

The reason i ask is that i am unable to test due to the latest patch making BSP's black (Well invisible on mine i just cant seem to get it working).

you shouldn't have to go larger than 256x256 for textures.

To fix the Black problem, export the texture file into the game directory from the wad file. You can dload and use wally for this.

also make sure your using BDP Update 5.3
direct x 9.0b
latest vid drivers for your vid card

i can run UT2003 in full graphics so i know MY computer is good enough to handle it(AMD Athlon XP 2500, 128 MB GF4 Ti4800,512 DDR).

CattleRustler - there is a point to having larger textures... It looks better. The detail can be sooo much higher, and it just makes the game look better.

yes great, but you said they were loading black and I was telling what worked from my experience only. Your machine specs don't matter if the problem is between dbp + direct x. DBP needs 9.0b to work and as for BSP's if the texture file arent exported to the game directory forget about seeing your textures.

Info is free for public consumption - do with it as you see fit
good luck
