making a car now, dunno what it is called.. hmm, anyhows i tried to follow the blueprint i have and well.... see for u self^^ its still WIP. still, iam pretty happy, since this is in fact my first car (no.. i have made one before... it was suxxors.). wish me luck^^ going to add some more details, or atleast try to. also, iam going to try to make detailed lights and make seams for doors and other suchh things. low poly is just 880 faces i believe.
C&C is fine as always^^ hoping to learn a lot from this^^ also, do NOT expect a CG awesome car from me. and i am aware of the windows at the sides. going to remake them

pics:

lowpoly first: (sorry for the bad quality of the wire.)

highpoly:

Thanks B++^^

ive made a tire now, its way more detailed than the car but the car isnt done yet ^^ working on the rim right now. i learned pretty much from the tire acually. though, the tire is like 16k polys but i will possibly make an lowpoly verson aswell.. possibly^^ the tire itself is more highpoly than the car! omfg... screens:

I see its some kind of the new BMW X6? I attached a screen of what to fix.Cut those parts and the flow will be much better. Also dont use turbosmooth,it overdoes the smoothing.Select some polies then scroll down and find Smoothing Groups, then experiment with them

i have made the cuts and iam soon done with the rims. theyre around 300 polys (lowpoly ones) and total scene with all 4 tires + all 4 rims (subbed) + car (subbed) is around 22k polys. here comes the pics:

without sub:

lowpoly wire:

iam going to add some bults and such into the rim then i'll call it done.

Tires are slightly overkill, Its very nice though.

The doors have a strange poly placemnt along with the windshield/ support frame things. You can see the flux in the turbo smooth version.

It might just be poly placment and you would just need to re arrange them, but other than that its a nice mesh.

keep it up

Will be watching for updates.

low poly front window look OK, but i wanna know ur opinion on the subbed window? also, anything to change to make it look better? going to start on the doors atm then of to the side windows.
also: the lowpoly verson clocks at 1k without the lowpoly rims and the.... tires.. XD also i might wanna do some poly reducing on the lowpoly rims.
one last question: do you think that the community might want the final product? as it looks now that is.

The car looks pretty nice but the turbosmooth kinda kills it,it oversmooths the thing.Try doing as I said,by hand.Select some faces, scroll down and find Smoothing Groups then experiment.

Or use turbosmooth, but learn how to utilise control edges.

Try using the symmetry function/modifer instead of welding, its much more efficent.

Though i cant remember what you use lol

also, you guys think that ~2k polys is accepted for a car? //talking car games here\\

car itself is 1k, tire is 16kXD will redo. and rim is 300polys.

tried to apply smoothing groups and... it looks proffessional if i have to say it myselfXD (applied all car to one smoothing group, the body looked nice. windows and such will probably be in an alone group. thanks for that tip whoever it was

looks like you need to sort out your symmerty mate, you have a very harsh line down the center of the model.
starting to look very good though

cheers henry

know about the line - it appears since its symmetrical, and the lines go into each other, should be fixed when copied - select all middle vertex - weld.

thanks for the crit and comment^^

the tier needs ABIT more detail, doesn't even look "round"

Looks good but those dark nasty artifacts you have are annoying me.Try selecting all vertices and weld with 0.001 threshold.Maybe it will fix that.

hassan: the tire? well, to make it perfectly round i have to make it atleast 60segs and that would make it very highpoly pretty sure up to day car games dont use more than 18 and uses bump/normal maps.

Give the tyre 16 sides, as oppose to 12.

hello, quet a big update now, doors, door handles, tires, a new window.. wow.

clocks in at about 3k polys i think, some vertex fixes and poly reducion and its done i think. i have learned a lot frlom this, and i have gotten a bigger understanding for car geometry, also how to go around when making cars. thanks for all the support i've gotten. going to play with smoothing groups today and then i think i will call it done.

Use a grey enviroment background,
You do use max right? my memory fails me again.

Press 8 to bring up the enviroment menu if you do. I think i can spare some of my scene render setings if you are,

Ill prepare a few for you if you want. Give mew a heads up, i should be lurking between episodes.

Edit; i forgot to say, great job on this, youv improved alot.

hassan, the lights exist, since it is a low poly car the lights will be done with a texture.

iam not sure if i will texture it, it would on the other hand be gr8 excersize...
