Hi Guys,

Just a quick poll. I am thinking of removing the PREVIEW button from the main list of tool-bar icons to make room for a new feature button (as yet undisclosed). It is the Preview Button next to the Test Game Button that creates a quick preview of your level so you can roam around it within the map editor without going to the trouble of building a test game.

My question is whether you actually use this button, how often you use it and what situations does it help you with when building levels. I personally never use the button, as test game acts as my preview, but I wanted to throw this question out there before I start chopping away at existing functionality.

I drink tea, and in my spare time I write software.

Nope I do not use it...

The problem with taking the easy way out is that the enemy has already mined it.

I never use it but I do use the FPSC-Screens.exe side by side with my new program. If you remove it would you be removing that file as well?

Never give up trying. Just try it another way that works for you.

Whenever I do use it, FPSC will typically crash... so go ahead and replace it I say.

I agree with the above about removing the button. When I've hit it, my FPSC generally has a hissy fit and crashes.

Unless you can rig it to turn on the coffee maker Then I have the best of both worlds

Cheers

I say remove it.
You can get the same thing by rightclicking on it.
And I hate accidentally hitting the preview button, it ususally crashes FPSC.

at first when I got FPSC, I thought it was test game. I hit it, and was like "I've got a lot of work to do to be good at this"

but then I figured out otherwise.

get rid of it.

It doesn't really have any use, and only annoys people when they click on the wrong button. This alone should be enough to remove it... But yeah, it also crashes on random and doesn't really show any detail yet takes quite some time to generate as well, which make me want to yell "BURN THE SUCKER".

Remove it!
Plus what they said.
It takes so long to load and its pretty frustrating, the only time I use is by accident.

As I said in the bug reports topic, every time I accidentally click on this button when trying to test the game, the editor crashes, and then my computer freezes. Get it out of here!

Twas the week before Christmas, I logged in to see,
A poll question in FPSC Chat posted by Lee.
"Do we keep the Preview button, or shall I remove it?
I'm really not sure. Tell me people, do I do it?"

The question was passed, the debate began
Do we keep this button or kick it into the can.
But before long a voice spoke- not rude,
It was Santa's Sled Scraper Nickydude.

He asked us to remember that button you see,
The one that would crash our FPSC.
And with that, we stopped to give a quick thought,
To that sad little button in the program we bought.

The responses came in and were amazing, you see,
"Remove it" was the response from the entire Community.
And so with a smile, Lee gave us a bow,
"Thanks for the feedback, it makes my job easier now".

The Preview button may make room for something new,
To fill that spot so don't be blue.
I'm certain something good will be designed by Lee,
A great button with awesome functionality.

I could be like Santa and give you all a Gift.
Wish you a Merry Christmas ,,give your spirits a lift
So here's what I'll say before I turn off the light.
Have a very Merry Christmas..and to all a Good Night.

Cheers

Mike

Very nice BF. May I call you BF? It has a very noble quality.
Lucky for us it was just one button and not the whole program!

Either get rid of it, or make it so that it will load a single room that the player starts in, this would allow for a quick load and test, if the user only wanted to test one feature and not the whole level.

It doesn't crash when I use it but I'd rather just use test game. I think I may have used it once or twice and possibly the same amount by accident.

I certainly won't miss it when it's gone.

It's not the button that irritates me but the backslash key. If I had a dollar for each time I pressed it instead of enter, let's just say I would not be using FPSC
