Is there a way to give points to someone else, like a gift? Simple question, sorry, but it's been nagging me forever now...

Thanks,

Simple indeed.
This is something I have been wanting for awhile too, but you have to get Rick to do it manually unless they have changed it.
Tis the season it would really pay off if there were a Store Points Gift Button.
eMail Rick, and he will sort you out on how to gift store points.

Store Points Gift Button would be a super idea. I know Rick will be glad to do it. He had done it for me.

I've never really figured out why people prefer to give a certain value of points that can be used to purchase things rather than give them just money, as if you gave money the person recieving the gift could get whatever they want.

Well it would suffice quite nicely for a gift for a friend or say a competition prize.

A competition prize makes more sense but isn't gifting points to a friend instead of giving them money limiting them on what they can purchase?

Whatever has happened to the old adage, "It's the thought that counts." Even at my age I would be thrilled to get points for a gift. Whether Christmas or not.

Me too. I'd gladly receive points. Then I'd let Cathy spend them

Cheers

It's not always possible to give money, as many members are not of legal age to have a PayPay or similar account to transfer funds to. I think the gift button would be a great idea. It would be useful for those who sponsor contests, paying for custom work, etc. And I'm sure TGC wouldn't mind the extra income.

That or we can share them. That's one point for me, five for Cathy. Two for me, ten for Cathy...

Cheers

I'm going to give Rick a shout and give him the link to this thread and see what he thinks. I am pretty sure that it is too late for Christmas though to get something for the store app. It probably will even have to wait until a new update release if they are planning one.

Or maybe you want to encourage their game dev. hobby and if you give 'em cash you know they'd just blow it all on other hobbies... like dope and hookers.

The reason I wanted this feature is because I was thinking about using it for trading. Say someone has a 10$ model pack out on the forums for sale. Another person could arrange a trade so that the pack owner gets 1000 points (equal to ten bucks) and that otherperson could get the pack. I did this with knxrb and Horror Mod; I gave him my model pack and a few models, and he gave me the mod. I also did so with darimc and his Litez product. Make sense?

Cheers

Maybe we want to support TGC at the same time, which then shares the good spirit of gifting and assure the money is well spent.

Yeah, what he said.

Seriously, I had wanted the feature in the past for forum contest prizes, but any time for gifting like christmas or birthdays would benefit too.

Yeah, I just checked the Mod's thread and saw the conversation between you two. Congrats on getting it, I guess.
