Hey guys,

I'm working on a mafia game atm, and I needed some cars. But I couldn't find any good oldtimer cars. I've been modeling for 2 months now so I decided to give it a try. This is my first car model ever so I know it's not perfect. Just let me know what you guys think. It's 2600 poly's atm. I expect it to be 4k when done. (still a lot of unnecesarry polys)

it looks really good, something straignt out of a mafia game, but you may want to as you said get rid of those unnecessary polies as 2600 is a bit too high

Classc car, its looking great so far, though thier looks like some smoothing errors on the wheel arches.

Auto smmoth should fix it up though.

Wow looks great but poly attack on the tires. (Everyone who makes cars seems to do that ) though it's beast man. keep it up .

wow, thats a mess, no offence but thats like looking at a spicer web, about the wheel arches, i'm not sure why you're recieving those errors, one question thow, why have you triangulated every face, it is required for certain things but at this stage it isn't necessary

...

hes using MS3D, it only works in triangles, and a poly is just two triangles so it makes no differences what so ever to rigid body structures...

huhh, its not like hes going to be able to clean up mesh's properly especially if hes only just started. Of course thier'll be wasted polies but thats to be expected. Its actally not that bad, hes just used spheres for the inner wheels and head lights. The seperate mesh's used together arnt helping with the excess polies but they work so no real problem thier. Thoguh i do recommend to extrude out instead of new meshs. In most cases it will save on polies/ tris in this case.

The smoothing group error is due to the tris facing the wheels being in the same smoothing group as those on the edge. Since i no nothing of the UI layout of milkshape, google it to see if you can find a quick tutrorial on setting smoothing groups.

Keep at it, it will look very good when its finished.

@master man of justice: yeah going to change to tires, they are like 1.3k each atm.

@mazz426: I know it's a mess, but I'm really new to this. But like lazerus said, milkshape 3d only works with triangles.

@lazerus: you extrude to make the tires? Anyway, I will search for some tuts, thanks for the comments

Max has a better work flow for stuff like this, so time to time ill extrude the tires to keep it as a whole mesh. Though it can be hard to get used to, and only in low poly sice the turbo smooth effects would be ruined, same if im rigging.

Might make a quick pic reel of the process as a chritmas presi lol.
