I have a slot machine game I made without any audio. I went back and added a looping wav file as music (also tried a midi) and suddenly when you play the game everything is at high speed (all 3d graphics spin and move way to fast) If I take the music out of the game all returns to normal. (btw I am using MUSIC as SOUND wouldn't load the wav file for some reason)

Has anyone experienced this oddity before
Thanks in advance

Wow.. strange...

Try this: (Re)-download DirectX 9. I couldn't load images and then figured out (with some help from the great people at the forum) that I didn't ahve DX9, so try doing that...

Did it work?

It happened in both dx8x and 9.0b which is installed and fuctioning properly. I just went back and added some debug code to display my FPS to see if thats what was jumping up but it wasn't...

without any sound...
idle FPS: 400-450
spin FPS: 50-60
Visual 3d object speeds look good

with sound looping...
idle FPS: 400-450
spin FPS: 50-60
Visual 3d object speeds are way too fast!

STRANGE

I fixed this. I can't explain what the Music and Sound has to do with the whole thing but the problem was that I had SYNC RATE set to ZERO, I changed it to 100 and now the game looks as it should whether or not sound is looping.

thanks any-hoo Inkybro

on my system if I use a 'cls 0' command in the loop I gain atleast 5% in frame rate. a simple 'cls' command won't affect it! odd, no?
