First I would like to clarify the reason why I did not reply after my earlier post " Help for creating a "sniper" game".... for some unknown reason my account was "locked"

Having said that I will now attempt to give enough information to allow the community if they wish to offer constructive suggestions and assistance

My computer : AMD Dual Core 4000+ 2.11Ghz , RAM 2 Gb, NVDIA 9500GT

To my knowledge there is no good recent "sniper" games available on the market .... if you know of any good ones please mention it...
My favorite "old" games are : "Sniper, Art of victory" and "Sniper Elite" which would be the type of "format" I would like to base the game to be created....

I have absolutely no expertise whatsoever in programing but having reach the age of retirement I have all the time necessary and hope that this FPSC (allegedly not requiring any programing skills) could be the opportunity for me to create my own game.... but to be honest the way the guide is written is still too "computer lingo" for me to understand thoroughly but with some efforts and hopefully with the assistance of somes "good will" knowledgeable people like the ones in this forum I should be able to create a good enough game

To start I think that I need to find an "abc" guide or tutorial to teach me the "game creation" basics and the terminology used with the FPSC guide which is written in a manner that "a complete computer noob like me" have a hard time to understand....

Then what I need is to find and select the appropriate features available and learn how to import/install and use them with FPSC

At this point based on what I read it seems that one of my main problem is to have large enough outdoor areas to make an interesting "sniper" game but without having "Low Fps" issues slowing down the game

One of my main focus would be to find and use "realistic" weapons visual and sound

Feel free to ask any additional questions and dont worry of being a little "patronizing" as for this project I am the student and you are the teachers

If you prefer (better for me)we can communicate via my email : [email protected] or even better via Skype or any voice communication

Looking forward to your comments and/or suggestions

Sorry about the last thread, I thought you weren't real

Welcome to the forums, if you need any help just ask.

I believe that Bluefox and Blackfox are working on a beginner's guide to FPSC, but I'm not sure how far into the project they are.

The community guide is a good place to find information and should be in your documents folder if you update to the latest version.

You can add me on MSN and I'll be happy to help you with any problems you might be having.

o.k., so you are real? your email adress had tastyworld in it, so I was kinda confused.

get fenix mod to increase frames and use invisible wall segments to block out the outdoor parts you don't need. make it so that there is a static sun entity above where you have the level set up with a distance of 5000 and make it a light yelow.

also, invest in some of errant AIs weapons on the TGC store, maybe two sniper rifles, a sidearm, and the combatknife.

edit: you can also add me on msn and hador1996 for skype, and my email adress is down there.

one thing you should do to save on polygons and increase FPS is model your own buildings and terrain. I use Modo but since you are new to game creation i would recommend Wings 3d. It is by far the easiest program to use and once you become experienced with it it will be easy to switch to Modo.

I don't know of any good tutorials for modelling on these forums or geared directly towards FPSC but i do know of a few easy to use Wings tutorials. Here are some tutorials which include using wings 3d to make meshes. Just ignore the OBJ and Sim stuff lol. this is what i used to begin modelling. you may even find a few objects i made for Sims 2 on there.

I would really sugest FPSC for a sniper game, somthing like UDK would do better as you have ulimated map making space and the terrain limit is also limitless but the other guys have given you some nice info tehre so you could use that to help make it in fpsc

Thank you all for your suggestions.... let me attempt to answer ;

Thraxas : Can you please tell me how to contact Bluefox and/or Blackfox...?

Hador : FYI "tastyworld" was actually related to "real life" fine food import activities
I appreciate your info but unfortunatly I did not understand the terminology you are using...!!!! Hopefully after reading a basic guide that Kravenwolf is in process of creating I will be able to understand a little better

JZ28 : Thank you for the suggestion but this is very much beyond my computer abilities.... so for the time being I will have to rely on existing objects and import them into FPSC

Bigsnake : UDK is surprisingly totally free so I did download it and was very impressed it looks like a very high quality software but definitely way above my abilities.... this seems to be a software designed for the pros

unixfr3ak : I will get the weapons from ERRANT AI.... but I am curious why you did not suggest JFLETCHER as he seems to have more variety....?

Everyone seems to direct me towards Fenix which I will follow the suggestions .... but now I need to find a basic "abc" guide in how to import and use Fenix with FPSC

Looking forward to many more suggestions.... mostly in "tricks" how to create large areas in FPSC for a good "sniper" game without reducing FPS

There are indeed no pure sniper games on the market - but the reason is that a game with 30-40 hours playing time is really boring if you can only snipe/knife. Besides that all shooters include sniper weapons so its not that the market doesnt offer anything (Fallout, Crysis,Rainbow 6, etc...)

But there are games that work perfectly for players who like sniping. STALKER p.e. can be played to about 80% with sniper/scope rifles and the MP servers are full of them.

Having said that, I think the FPSC engine is quite capable to be used for a sniper game - so give it a shot

Yeah, UDK is a free version of the Unreal Engine 3, its very very good, specially when you use the dof and bloom together just right

frames are the speed. you want higher frames because it shows you that low end computers could run your games better, and there would not be lag. look for the fenix mod thread, download it and learn to install a mod. fenix mod has allies, so you could have a budy with you. get the invisible wall segment from fpsfree.com and install it. use it block out inacessible areas. press the up/down layer keys and get 12 layers above the ground. make a light entity and right click it. change the color to a light yellow, and then set the range to 50000 to 10000. go to the tgc store and find the user Errant AI and buy all of the weapons you want(and maybe then some).
