Just a quick check in ,
This project is alive and well. I look forward to providing you with some nice screenshots within the next 3-4 weeks.
I do apologize for the long delay between the updates but got sidetracked for several weeks with misc work that required my attention (I am doing this project in my spare time).
The current status of the project and screenies can be found here
Blessings, and merry xmas to everyone

I really think that this post needed some screenies here. A little ahead of schedule

I agree on changing the snow texture for the mountains. But this looks really promising!

It looks like it could do with some more details, though. The areas seems so empty, with huge spaces between the buildings, and such. Carts, crates, wells, and stuff like that would be nice to see.

If you want some more detailed feedback, I'd be happy to test it.

It's all very well seeing screenies but what type of game is it and what is the bg story to it? It looks good but I don't know what the story is about.

all three are on the todo list. right now I'm working on placing the npc's and buildings. slow work as this has to be done in run time but its actually coming along quite nicely.

@Dandyman
an rpg whitch allows you to take a party of six characters of any classes you choose. real time exploration with turn based combat. best comparison as to what game play is planned to be would be a cross between several other games such as final fantasy, wizardry, and a few others.
so its not going to be a hack n slash like diablo as It will have turn based combat.
well I should be able to update this post again in a few weeks now that I finally have some spare time ( see you then)

At this point I am considering where to place the interface to the players characters. Should it be on top as pictured here, or should it go on the left side of the screen ? What do you think ? Comments welcome.

I would have placed them at the bottom of the screen. By having the portraits on the top blocks the view a bit, if you place them at the bottom of the screen only blocks the ground, but what important things could possibly lay on the ground?

putting them on the bottom would not work very well as it would block the view of stairways, and possibly fountains in the dungeons. Im seriously considering putting them on the side.

Hi Garion,
here is a screenshot of might and magic 9. It has its portraits on the side but you can only take 4 characters in it. (LOT will allow 6)

Pretty cool, I think that would work

By the way I suggest you should use the anisotropic filtering dll, posted on the annoucements board, on the ground to make it less blurry

Overall good job, the game is improving nicely

a couple quick questions that I would appreciate your input on.
first, would those of you who like to play these types of games prefer it in a window or fullscreen or like to have the option to where you can chooose either one(depending on your mood ofcourse)

second, what graphic and gameplay options would you consider to be important (such as the ability to adjust screen brightness, screen resolution , difficutly , ect ) ?

Your suggestions and comments are appreciated

Fullscreen, no doubt about it. But having the option to choose is nice, too. But most people prefer gaming in fullscreen.
