FPSC Classic Product Chat / Poor frame rate

I've futzed around with FPSC for a few years now. I hadn't tried it lately, but got a new computer and wanted to get back into it. My frame rate seems to stay around 16 or 17. This is just with a tiny level of a 4v4 room! When I load in the SciFi test game it "drops" to 15. I've gone through the settings and have most of them really low.
I didn't think I was this bad of a newbie, but sure could use some guidance. It's an ASUS laptop with an nVidia geforce GTX 260m card, running Windows 7. I thought I was buying top of the line.
Any help would be appreciated. Merry Christmas.

Use fenix mod, or any mod with S4 dual timer system.

I dont really know what the problem is but try getting a mod. This will increase the frame rate by quite a bit.

I recommend fenix mod as I personally think this is the fastest.

How much memory does your GTX 260M have/use and how much system RAM is there? I don't think video or memory is the problem, but just in case.

Are you running FPS Creator in compatibility mode?
Do you have the very latest DirectX 9 installed?
What version/upgrade of FPS Creator are you using? Remember that installing some of the earlier Model Packs reverts your version back to an earlier one.

Well, i dunno if laptops can really do anything well. Only internet.

I've got ACER Aspire, and my FPS keeps 27-29.

But you can try use less dynamic entities. Sometimes it helps!

Then, FPSCreator x9 is the best game builder. Well, actually-the best after x10.

Eh, last. Try using mods. For high FPS Apple Juice Mod and WASP mod would be the best.

try getting a mod, and check to see what other programs are running in the background. you may be using all your ram.

It's your opinion, but I am strongly on the side of x9.

Place the less dynamic entities you can. Only when necessary. Get a mod. i recommend Fenix Mod. It's the best free mod ever! Well. Don't make large outdoor areas where you can see from the other end of the map editor to the other end.

Thanks, everybody, for your help. Subsequently, I downloaded and ran Fraps. It shows me getting 38 fps- that is, until I hit the tab key to get FPSC's statistics overlay (or whatever it is called). Then, I drop to 17 fps.

Obviously, its pilot error of some kind. Can I take from this that you just don't use that tab overlay to determine fps, or is there something else I am doing wrong?

dont use that to tell fps, it cant be right. you are most likely getting 38 fps, and if you got fenix mod, it would be even better.

In test game, just look across the bottom of the screen and you will see the FPS value among many other meaningless things. Right now, vanilla FPSC is capped at 38 so if you see that, that's all there is.

Its Aspire x3200 with AMD Phenom 9150e quad-core. Bought it this summer. I have a wonderfull collection of viruses there, but it hasn't been connected to the internet yet!
This fps keeps static on my x9 1.15 with 3-5 charachters in there. I tried somebody's x10 game, and laughed for a long time at it's ragdoll on modelpack charachters.

IMHO, x10 is better then pure x9, not speakin about mods.

But i haven't seen a ragdoll in fpsc x9 mods...

Its my own surname? really!
