Just wanted to show a weapon I am working on (nothing special )
Its actually one of the first complex weapons/geometries that I have actually UV Mapped myself
Working on the texture at the moment, and since the great website with lots of weapon skinning tutorials went down I have to find my own way to do things. Like carbon fiber

C&C is welcome

Didn't mislead me, cause I remembered who you were...

Oh, and off-topic, just bought your 30+ pipe pack off the store, it's great! Thanks!

On-topic, that gun looks amazing! All I have to ask is what programs do you use?

Cheers

Ah, I tried MS3D, didn't like it at all. But I use AC3D now (although everyone says that it sucks) and am getting better as well. If you use Photoshop like me and others, Henry Ham has good texturing tutorials on his website, henrysfps.com I think?

Cheers

which button is that..?

AC3D has a great UV mapping tool, which IMO is better than 3ds max at some points=P

Yeah, he got some great tutorials! Thanks

The only thing that bothers me in Milkshape is that you cant connect meshes etc (booleans for example) and that the UV Mapper sucks

Otherways I find it easy and powerfull, at least for what I use it for.

Yeah, at first I thought you were talking about the gun, I was like, "Uhm... That's the Link Gun from UT3, what is he doing?" Sorry!

EDIT: How did you get your stuff into UDK? I've been trying to figure it out for ages now.

Latest Milkshape (1.85) can export ASE files which will be imported as static meshes into U3.

Texture finished:

Take a close look at the bullets
They are made totaly from scratch, not a reference (except a real bulletcase I have at my desk )

Really nice except bullets don't come out that far for assault rifles unless your using that .50 M4A1 or a sniper and that's not an M4 or sniper. maybe cut the visible part of the actual bullet by 2. it wouldn't really even need to be re-textured (depending on your UV)

I know that the standard round for M4/M16 and other assaultrifles aint that big (the point) but this isnt a M4A1, this is a customized weapon. And I see no problem in using a larger round

But if it really bugs you I will shrink it

I've got a quick little tut in making things look much better in unreal.

Hopefully the pic can explain it fully.

The tiled normal map is just a tileable (concreteish) normal, surprisingly adds a lot of detail to most objects, just make sure you get the tiling right. Too much and it won't be noticeable, too little and the bumps will be too small and won't be visible.
I'm only desaturating the main image so i can view the normals a little more clearer in game. For a static mesh you'd create your own specular maps.

i wish fps creater allowed you to have 2 reload animations, one with more then 1 bullet and one with all bullets spent.
cant wait for more of your stuff.

offtopic: know any good tuts on how to model FP arms and hands for guns, i seem to cant find any on youtube.

I think Reload 1 has too many motions for chambering a new round in the gun, especially if the gun is based off a M4A1 or M16 rifle

come see night shift at http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=106003&b=25 see you there

I think it looks great Cyborg.

My only thing is that it seems a little weird that the ax (assuming it's an old fireax) has all the red paint chipped off but the wood part that shows at the top is still all red.

But seriously, I like it.

Thanks!

The axe is not a fireaxe (as I know), its just a standard axe. The red part on the side is from the old logo of the company which produced the axe.
And the red part on the top is a thick layer of paint which will prevent the end of the wood to dry and then crack.
