So heh, hello there. No I have not left you, not for the life of me. While I don't post a lot here any more, I do lurk around and read a few threads every once in a while.
3D wise though, I've been completely abscent for over 2 months now, which is obscene really, but my main modeling software (Maya) was broken the first 1 1/2 months or so and after that I had a bunch of crap with school (And then comes procrastination of course), so I haven't had much 3D time. I do want to get back in to this thing though, so I thought I'd make something pretty basic to warm up. A human.

I know what you're thinking, a human? DULL! But heh, I'm a bit rusty, so please do excuse this if it has some really obvious issues.
Basically I just wanted to get a bit back into Zbrush and human anatomy, so I made a somewhat simple muscular guy.
Started with this pretty simple base mesh I quickly made in maya, nothing special, just somewhat evenly spaced quads to make sculpting a bit easier.

And after an hour of sculpting or so I have something decently long enough in to be post-able. (Again, I'm rusty! So it takes a while, and the anatomy isn't really that good either)

Yes the back is still very much in progress, please don't hit me.

There ya are matey! I was wondering when you would show up again, havent seen you on MSN in ages, fancy popping on?

The new sculpts looks great, i think the wrist area could use a revamp though, and the hands appear to small.

Ah, should've mentioned, everything bicep-down hasn't been worked on. So that might be why.
EDIT: I'm constantly on MSN. :S I'll re add you and see if it'll work.

everything looks good but the sculpt looks very exagerated, to make it work move the armpits down, make his ass bigger and then tone down his back and neck muscles.

and the base mesh looks great

Thanks.
The exaggerated style is really intended, the size of things like the lats, the trapezius and the obvious exaggerated bicep (The triceps will be developed a lot more, and is for that matter. Just not in that screenshot) are what I sort of wanted to go with, to make it more fun. I'm not really going for complete realism, as things the like obliques and such are really just blocked in if anything, and I'm not the best (Or even remotely close to the best) at completely anatomically correct modeling.
The ass I know about, it got very little attention at the time of the screenshot, just very blocked in, will work on it further later on.

thats fine, i'd guessed that you were looking for an exagerated style and a piece of advice for blocking in muscles you should use the clay brush it is much easier to control, also if you haven't already upgraded to 3.5 then do as you find many of the assests are incredibly helpful

I used to use the clay brush extensively previously, for muscles though I prefer to just slowly move up through subdivisions with the Standard, smooth, move and the Damien Standard brush. It just goes faster for me, but that's always just a matter of opinion of course.
I would upgrade to 3.5 if I was able to, zSphere2 looks very nice and so does the new brush mods, but I'm on a mac and therefor I'm currently running 3.2 which is the latest version. It has quite a bit of the 3.5 features though so I'm just fine.

Alright. felt like I had to post an update for today, so I will. Nothing major, just fixed general proportion issues (Mainly the scale of the arms which was, as I noticed, quite a bit too small), some tweaking on the back, and mainly got the arms where I can be bothered to take them. They're reasonably realistic and that's fine with me.
Hope it looks decent.

Hands, legs and feet next. And then refining. Oh yeah, and the ass.

Your skills are top notch. Meh should play with zbrush more. Paid for it so at the very least should use it more often.

Looking forawrd to more of this, and knicking the final renders for reference pictures ^_^

Thanks a lot lazerus. And yes, procrastination has indeed been a bit of an annoyance because of its unstoppable loveliness.
You really should try Zbrush, it's an excellent and very fun software to make stuff in.

So update time, gotten quite a ways into the legs. Think they're pretty close to done, also fixed the arse slightly. Now just the hands and feet.

I like the exaggerated muscles, but I'm not sure that the knees can look like that.

If you're referring to the "divided" look, that's really how knee's work. Perhaps I'm just not good enough at sculpting it.

From the way it looks to me, I think you basically left out the thought that there are knee caps o.O Your sculpt looks like I would imagine someone lacking the actual caps would appear as

Well touch your knee, there's the cap, and then below it there's a slight bulge. That's sort of what I was trying to achieve there, might've failed completely though.
