I'm working trying to understand how to make a texture for a object for exporting light maps on my objects and whenever I render to texture and apply it to the texture it gives me a weird result please see attached.

If you unwrapped your model, then rendered lightmaps and if you didnt change the lightmaps were applied to uv channel 3 and possibly even auto unwrapped. So set the uv channel in render to texture section to 1 and make sure auto unwrap isnt selected.

I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing but have fixed the problem mostly. The simple towers I made seem to not have any shadows on them but does cast shadows on the ground. It seems the UV tiling was set to something like 48 which caused the weird distortion.
