Hey! I've been testing out my programming skills on a couple remakes of old games... first I did Space Invaders, and then Asteroids, and I just released Pong this morning. I think I'm ready to move up in the world.

I eventually want to take my three-man team and work on a horror adventure similar to Terminal Velocity's "Nocturne" series, basing it on a pen-and-paper horror RPG of my own creation. However, there's one more step I'd like to take before we get there...

Roadwar 2000.

Roadwar 2000 has always been one of my absolute favorite old-school games. I used to play it constantly on my Commodore 64, and every time I had friends over, we used to make believe we were all the leaders of the gang commanding the actions of the gang through my computer.

I really would like to remake this game, and I have read on many other forums that this is a remake that is often asked for. Does anyone have any kind of opinion as to what should go into a modern-day remake of this classic game? (Of course, besides changing the name to reflect a more futuristic date... I was thinking about simply renaming it Road Wars)

Read the Road War 2000 wiki
Quote: "In 1999, a terrorist group unleashes a deadly virus on the United States, leading to its collapse."

So that's why G-dubya was so scared of WMDs He was playing Road War 2000!

Road War is best to go with, Road War 3000 would just be lame

you can download the original for free from here

Excellent a Commodore 64 gamer. I loved the commodore! Some of the games for the system really made you think especially the Text/ Adventures. Unforunately, I have never played roadwar 2000.

Have you ever played Rat Race for the Commodore 64? I think a 3D remake of this game needs to be made a some point.

Best,

I love old games, it seems the further back you go the better they get. Games had to be smart when it was just text or a few pixels. These days, games are filled with pretty graphics that detract from the game's quality.
Games are judged by the masses largely on their graphics, so this means the look of the game takes precedence over how it plays.

The bigger titles like Fallout 3 manage to pull off both sides, but for smaller games I would love to see some titles with more substance. If that means a compromise on graphics then so be it.

Sorry for the slight hijack
