FPSC has come a long way in 2009 thanks to talented developers in the community. I remember when v1.06 was released with Dark Lights and for a while that set the benchmark for what could be achieved visually.

Recently the door has been opened for interesting and bespoke visuals at both an environment and object level, which combined with other game play and post processing effects available in mods gives us the ability to set the benchmark higher than ever before.

Below is a video link showing a small test game I’ve made using some of the latest technology.

HD version:

Standard video (for 56k connection etc):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOJE-tbpUjU

I'd like to extend my thanks to all those helping FPSC achieve its potential and Happy New Year to everyone.

Very interesting! Just imagine what a Mod aimed at 'graphical enhancement' could do ,hint, hint...

The AI is more then scriptable, i can imagne one day that someone will deal with this problem. I would if knew how to.

About the visuals this has always been clear to me that FPSC has potensial but never displayed. I can imagne a non-budget team creating a fairly good game with next-gen graphics, and with a script mod. Everything can be achived!

So what kind of graphics card did you use for that test?

How do you get a gun model to aim down the sights instead of using the general hip crosshair fire?

What 'extras' beyond the normal FPSC did you use? It might be worthwhile listing them.

@OutdoorGamer
So would I make another model of the gun aiming down the sights and add that into the zoom area of the gun entity?

No I'm just saying that I wanted to add sights to the stock media weapons because it's not real enough just having the normal crosshair.

Errant is the one that made the weapons. Model Pack 9 and 10.

@TerrorNation: You need a mod (I suggest Fenix Mod) to do that.

@NomadSoul: Looks great, only a few things could be improved as far as the look goes. I felt that most of the barrels and boards were too shiny, but that's probably caused by the shader.

It just looks like an average rushed FPS Creator game with Bond1's new shader applied to everything. It's the same with EFX and X10's water - just because you have it doesn't make it look better. I mean, now you can see the model seams in the planks, and that ruins the illusion. The barrel and some other things look waay to shiny, as if they have been dipped in some kind of gel. The lighting is extremely basic compared to some things I've seen on here, and there could have been more wall detail as oppose to basic square rooms with a sign or two.

@Coach Shogun I do have Fenix Mod but how would I go about making the extra 'aim down the sights' vision?

@TerrorNation

You have to add certain commands to the gunspec file that tell the gun what angle it zooms to etc

you can also add recoil, gun lag (Swaying) etc

Yeah although I've just read hockeykid is working on a DBPro game and will migrate any Dark AI improvements into Fenix mod!

Quote: "So what kind of graphics card did you use for that test?"

I'm using Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT

Quote: "What 'extras' beyond the normal FPSC did you use? It might be worthwhile listing them."

FPSC v116
Project Blue Mod (weapon modifications / bloom)
Model Pack 38 segment / entity shaders (modified with Dark Shader)
Model Pack 22 character shader (modified with Dark Shader)
Coz weapon shader with EAI G36C

Quote: "Nice to see my art in your vid."

Thanks for providing it especially with the xmas discount!

Quote: "I felt that most of the barrels and boards were too shiny, but that's probably caused by the shader."

Yeah, I went a bit overboard on the barrel and wood shaders. Hopefully I'll get better at shader editing with experience.

@Aaagreen

You are totally right. I put this small level together very quickly just to demonstrate how we can use a combination of tools available to create fundamentally better looking games. Hopefully once I've started mastering shader editing I'll get around to building a proper level for the showcase board.

I was very lucky and allowed to beta test that model for Strelok. To my knowledge it hasn't been released yet.

@TerrorNation

You will get the zoom aiming for guns with any mod which contains airmod which is most of them. I would advise purchasing the G36C gun from TGC store as it comes with the gunspec information already included.

Sure. It comes with Project Blue Mod but you will also need model pack 1 to use the example provided. They provide instructions to set evereything up for any character model however.

Sure, I'll ask him. The model is very good but I'm sure there are less painful ways of payment!

In the terms of service in the TGC Store, it states that I can't use any models I buy in a commercial game until I am 18 years old. Is that correct?

It looks like whoever bought it is the head of a company or someone 18+. I would contact errant and rick about this if I where you.
