Hello all!

I am opening this thread to see just what average screen resolutions are preferred or used by
FPSC users when building their game(s).

These averages will be added to the Game Page Editor Resolution Selection Menu.

I hope to have the GPE ready for Community Testing by the middle of January 2010.

Thanks in advance.

Frank

Thanks a lot you all for posting to this thread.

I hope to get as many replies as I can get. Actually it's great that most have above 1024 Desktop res.

Thanks again

If I ever need to run an old application which doesn't support widescreen, my monitor has a button which squishes the screen down to normal width. Or I just set my other monitor as main (I have 2, one wide one normal)

In the height/width fields in setup.ini if you have 1.16, make sure theres nothing inside those fields and it auto adjusts to your desktop resolution, in vanilla FPSC

Hm, in 115, it always gave me errors when I tried to change it.

Desktop: 1280 x 1024

FPSC: 1024 x 728 ...

But 116 allows auto adapting? I've been reluctant to try 116 ever again, gave me huge problems. Plus, PB is currently for 115.

Thanks everyone

I do know that for some, backrops may or maynot be stretched due to the nature of FPSC. This has been a thorn for me in developing MHPro.

The default res is 1024x760 but I know we all want bigger and better. Every ounce of input I get here helps me better MHPro.

Keep it comin'

Frank

"EDIT"
In the past I have run many of the communities games and mods with lots of graphic issues because of screen res settings. Mostly the stretching effect of Huds and backdrops.

Never give up trying. Just try it another way that works for you.

Desktop -> 1680x1050
Fpsc -> 1024x768 | 1680x1050 (have been testing FPSC with both resolutions. Have some small problems with HUDS, but nothing to worry about.)

You can edit the setup.ini but that also messes up the map editor

efx mod has auto adapt and if your not depending on mods I could add a command to the source that tells just the fpsc-game to run in 1280x1024

@ Bigsnake \ dolphin lover

The Game Page Editor has nothing to do with 3rd party mods or editing your .ini files.
If you wish to advertise mods or give scripting info please do so with your own thread.

This thread if for GPE information only.

Thanks

So far we got Desktops from 1280 - 1920

FPSC Average of 1024 x 768

I still need more input for an absolute.

Thanks again everyone for helping out on this thread.

1600x1024 on the wide screen, which is where the games play.
1280x1024 on the normal screen.

According to w3schools.com, 57% of web surfers are using resolutions higher than 1024x768, but are there more wide screen or normal aspect ratio screens in use today?

Brian.

That's a very good question. 16:9 or 4:3 is something we should account for when making our mod or game for other system use.

I myself run 1280x800 up 1440x900 which is 16:9 but when you program an aspect ratio and you make that a fixed ratio then complications set in. Most mods that are left default res no problem on multi systems but once they change that to an actual then crashes and morphing occur.

That's the real purpose for this thread is try to help avoid this problem in the future.

When did i advertise a mod?

Also, just leave the resolution fields blank anywhere and it should set it up for auto-adjust.

(EDIT) Epic misreading, i thought you were making a game and wanted input on what resolution you should set it to...

You gave scripting advice.

Nothing major. Just want to keep the thread at screen sizes not changing ini files.

EDIT

I could have been more clear on my first post. Again no problem.
