What is best for game development? Dark Game Studio or leadwearks?
I get with the idea that leadwearks brings a lot of tools already with the main packadge, that we have to buy in Dark Game Studio.

You may want to go into more detail about what you are planning to do, I would presume Leadwerks is the better engine but then thats reflected in the price you have to pay for it.

It has been argued that DarkGDK is not an engine but more of a DirectX wrapper, I'm not sure where I stand on that one.

I think you can run a trial version of Leadwerks, and DarkGDK is free so if you have the time why not try a few tutorials on both.

Negative on that.
There is no way one can write and then test any code fragments in the Leadwerks evaluation kit.
One can just play with some of the tools, and run a few pre-created sample programs.

@ app developer

To create any meaningful game one has to be able to program.
You have to learn to program. You do not have to have/learn to use extra tools if you don't want to.
To create any meaningful game and do it relatively quickly, one has to also learn to use some of the specialist editor tools.
You may want to learn how to use some of the tools, but it is not a prerequisite unless you want to do it quickly.

If you think that just learning to use some of the tools will be quick and that you will not have to learn to program, then you will be very disappointed.

Thank you both for your answer.
sydbod, i'm not affraid to program. Actually i'm a software developer that is biggining to make some games. My only problem is that i have very short time left to do it, so i'm trying to find tools that allow me to be more quick on some tasks. Of course, i'll have to learn how to work with these tools, but that's a good investment to make
