Ok, Ive started a little work with Visual basics and this is my 1st published application.

What does this program feature ?

- File Browser, 2 tree views for easy copying if your a modeler, you can also use it to quickly extract newly downloaded content.

-Fps Creator + Fps Creator X10 launcher

-Includes a optimized setup file for medium-high spec computers

- Thats the only ideas I have thought of so far, any ideas are welcome

How much does it cost ?

Its free

Screenshot

Excuse the messy folder, I think I may have done something stupid one day, need to clean it

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST...... The download

This download is a 400kb (Roughly) installer as the published file isn't actually that big

DOWNLOAD

EDIT :

I forgot to mention about using it, it will ask you to install it when you run the exe for the 1st time, let it install so it can run.

Please comment, more criticism the better

I have not tried this yet, but one thing that jumps out at me, even when I made Mod-IT. Can the user specify their FPS Creator directory, or does the "Launch FPS Creator" assume it is in the default "c:\Program Files\..." folder. You may want to allow the user to specify their path, which may help you later if you want to add other features.

Otherwise, nice work.

Cheers

Mike

No, I just told VB to run fpscreator.exe and thats it, so it will very quickly scan your pc for fpscreator.exe then launch it if it finds it. Well its along those lines

Except x10, since its exe is also the same as X9 I had to tell it to go to the x10 directory.

Ok, that's perfect. I never got mine to do that with my VB app, but I went the settings route.

I downloaded and tried your app, and noticed that you have the entire publish folder being installed which is not necessary. I navigated into the folder to launch the app, but I had to rename the file FPSCToolCase.exe.deploy to FPSCToolCase.exe and then could launch it. Some people may not know to do this.

If I could make a suggestion. I run Visual Studio 2008, so hopefully yours is similar. When you publish your app, look at the following:

1. When you click the publish tab, on the center right there are 4 buttons- App Files, Prerequisites, Updates, Options. Click Options, then uncheck "use .deploy file extension". This way when you publish you have the actual EXE for the application. Then go into the Application Files\FPSCToolCase_1_0_0_# and locate the exe for the app. That is all you need to supply the user. You don't need the manifest, etc and will keep your archive low.

You can then take that exe and either create an installer for it. Otherwise, nice to see another useful application out here

Cheers

Mike

Very unique name! How did you think it up?

On a more serious note, I think i'm having trouble understanding what exactly this program does?

Its a file browser? What are some advantages of this versus windows explorer?

It has all the files at your fingertips instead of having to browse for them, IE a convenience application.

well, its literally just my first VB project so I thought I would make a simple program for fpsc (As I said in the first post)

but to answer your question :

It allows you to launch fpsc or fpsc x10 from it, and as you can see in the screenie it supports to browser that start in your fpsc directory, I thought it would be useful if you want to copy stuff across as you may have put something in the wrong place or whatever the reason.

Its also there so you can extract files to your files folder without having to spend a few moments going into your fpsc directory (Unless your on vista or windows 7 as you can actually right click the icon and there is a option that will take you to the exe directory)

Then finally I got bored after A while so I added a feature that could be handy and might not be, depending if you don't want to edit the setup.ini for better graphics, basically this just give you a setup.ini that I have setup for good loading speed and better graphics in game

As I also said in my first post ; I would love some Ideas

I was thinking of toolbox but then I remember that another user had already created a tool with that so I ajuested the name, if you could think of any names that would be great

None unless your on XP since xp doesn't support the feature of quickly accessing a exe folder in a matter of milliseconds.

Also im gunna add more to this, thats why I added that "What is this window" button to it cause im gunna add more windows that will give you different things to do

@crispex

Help would be appreciated with this project If I get stuck at any time I'll send you a email

Haha I appreciate your honesty! That was not the answer I was expecting!

But Ah ok, that makes sense. I can see how users could find it useful.

I personally have shortcuts to my TGC directory (and TGC apps) on my taskbar, so as of yet I don't see a real personal need for it.

App is looking good though, keep up the great work!

Maybe adding the ability to allow users to launch their other programs from your app as well? like other third-party FPSC Tools?

I see what you're saying, like the system Steam uses. Very easy to do.
