im having an issue with DBPRO patch 5 rendering a BSP map I made with the hammer editor and zoner tools. Basically its really really dark and i cant see anything. i have ambient lighting set to 100% and i definiately have lights in the map. Also, i noticed when i remove the .wad file with textures, DPBRO renders the map and lighting fine (just without textures) and you can see perfectly. Whats up?

yeah, there has been all sorts of issues with BSP stuff in patch 5. Definitely do all of the following:

Get Direct x 9.0b
Get latest vid drivers for your card (if Nvidia get Detonator 45.23)
Export textures from wad file into game directory

triple check no errors in BSP compile (all steps)

this is what worked for me and others as well.

Set the ambient light in your scene to 100 (or higher) and the map will display correctly. It will effect other models however, but the ambient light level for those can be disabled.

Cheers,

Thanx for the tips CattleRustler! I have been using DX 9.0b and my drivers are all up-to-date. What app could I use to export textures from a .wad file?
