Hey there,

I am the GodFather, I want to be a model maker and as such have started by using a model maker perhaps (most probably) out of my depth, oh well, it was free! Anyway. This model maker cannot export my models in directX or FPS compatible formats, which is what I want them for.

CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A RELIABLE SIMPLE, FREE MODEL CONVERTER TO CONVERT 3DS TO DIRECT X OR FPS COMPATIBLE FORMATS.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

Cheers,

The GodFather.

Purchase Deep Exploration. Its the ultimate model converter. Google for more info.

Alternatively, if your package can export to .3ds or .obj, do that, then import them into Wings 3D (another free modeling package). From wings you can then export to .x.

Truespace7.6 accepts 3DS or obj and will export to .x , and it is free! There are lots of free video tutorials and it is well documented in its help files/videos.

Fragmotion is very cheep and converts many file formats including .x and .dbo

Try right clicking on the 3DS file and choosing to open with truespace, I tryed that with one model and it opend up and read all the texture files better then just importing it. Or you can try opening up TS, then importing from the modler side as the workspace side doesn't im port 3DS,

And stop making so many posts. You`ve just bumped down like 5 threads that were showing real work. All of these questions could have been posted in one thread, including all of your model request posts that don`t make any sense because right after you make it, you say you`re having problems.

Again, stop making so many posts.

Please stop making threads/bumping threads. You are starting to spam the board.

If you have questions, keep it to one thread and don't double post.
