Hi

I was wondering what you guys are doing for the Alienware compo. I mean, its not like we need to hide what we are doing from each other. So if you guys could post what you have done so we can all see what you are doing. Here's what i'm doing (scroll down slowly with star wars music in background ):

Jelly Wars
Episode 2: Attack of the Alien Dudes

The ever partying alien dudes have discovered that the worst possible thing that could happen to them has happened. They have run out of music. So in a desperate effort to save their partying ways they steal the occasionally partying jelly dudes music. This has enraged the jelly dudes and so they send their elite jelly dude (you) off to get their music back and to whoop some alien ass.

The game will be in 3rd person (me having trouble figuring how to do this, but i will prevail) and will feature some interesting motion blurs and bullet effects and some winamp style visualizations as textures! Just wait and see.

EDIT: Will upload some screenies soon

I can't do that.
The king of he potato people won't let me.

In my game there's going to be a squad of Aliens and "Humans", and a bunch of small cutesy creaturesin the end(ever played the game "Incubation", I'm going to make a game similar to that)Turn based multiplayer 3d worms style.I've thought of the story plan, and everything is fitting in the right way so far...

read more about incubation here...

No screen shots of my game since I can't be bothered uploading...(hehee, my lazy self)

I'm throwing around a few ideas, but I'm probably going to go with a 3rd person stealth game.

Still thinking of an idea. I have at least started though but only on the basic structure of the code, like the title screen, options screen, changing screen res, etc. Hanging together so far.

Have even gone to the expense of buying milkshape to do some modelling.

i'm stuck, my first idea was stupid, this happens to me so often, i'll be thinking of a game all day, then when it come to programming or doing more than a basic engine, i think of something that makes it seem rubbish then i give up and have no more ideas for ages.

For me, I'm using this competition as a learning experience, to help me with my composing(music of course), and animation skills.

I havn't been this excited about this coding, since I started out with DBP. This competition was definitly a good revival for me.

Working on a Diddy Kong/F-Zero clone. What's interesting for me on this contest is that I'm the main modeller while Kit it the primary programmer. It's interesting to wear a different game dev hat from my normal role as programmer.

i dont know what im gunna do. Right before the model come out i modeled this sweet mounted chaingun with a flamthrowerd on the bottom, but then that game got boring right before i finished the first level. So i really dont know aht im going to do. I played this werid game online where you pick up the little people attacking you and you throw them away (i put in a link, cuz i dont think that was a great explanation) so im making a 3d remake of a more complicated version of that. So i think im just going to make the aliens swarm you or somthin, but that will prob get boring too so.... who knows?

~haxor

PS play some of the games on that site if your bored, some of em r kinda fun

i'm going 3rd person shooter...

here s a story teaser :

The Ferian Galaxy in the outter rim is home to many planets and star stations. Although usually a peaceful Galaxy, Ferian is now under threat. A criminal by the name of Xucloes is on the loose after escaping from a high security prison and has been wrecking everything in sight. In an effort to get every bounty hunter they can on Xucloes the IGP (Inter-Galactic Police) have issued a 1 billion Xen Bounty on him.

Natas X is a bounty hunter who has travelled the known (and unknown) universes in search for his bounties and has recently heard of this exceptionally high bounty on the vine. Without delay he sets off for Ferian, via a spatial gate in his ship he picks up a transmission, stating "Xucloes has been spotted in the western region of NipoTen", so he heads strait for the planet in the hope to be amongst the first to arrive.

Natas lands and it is like peering into an old western movie: wagons; cowboys; and cows. As he walks into town he feels somewhat out of place, “Is this the first time they have seen an alien?

i have the story complete... and th enegine almost done.

BTW Natas X = Satan X hehehe

Working on 4 projects 2 RPG(programming texturing and 3d map), 1 3rd person shooter (Programming), and a special project.

I'm doing a 3rd person puzzle game.
Where you play as many different characters and you have to work through the level using all of their skills to get them all to the finish
It'll be like The Lost Vikings mixed with Lemmings if anyone has played either of those games :

I'm using this compo to make the transition from DB Classic to DB Pro. Mind you, I only ever did half an app in DBC. Anyway, I've started back to front, with the title screens and menus just to get into DB Pro in an easy way.

I'm going Retro, but not in the gaming sense. The game is a new idea, but based on the tried and tested fighter craft theme.

Supprise or not ... I don't think describing my project will cause much changing of projects.

I'm making a UFO racing game . It had to be done ... After all they gave it as an example of how to use the alien model.
My short rant is over. Crazily enough my UFO racer is turning out a bit like pod racer, 'cept more fun. The UFOs can get up to a good 1000kmh^-1 on a large flat area.
I've got the AI almost complete ... just need to make a track maker really and clear up a few things ... make a menu system etc.

Screenies soon (when I get more effects in).

UFO racing game is a good idea 4 a game, but you must remember to show the alien model in a significant way.

I'm gunna build atop the BBFX engine I've been working on for the past 2 years.

This way I'll actually manage to get something in for the compo even with School and such gettin' in the way.

Haven't started work on it yet. Which is prolly a bad start. Need to draw up some level plans.

It sounds like we'll have a couple of racing games it the mix. Cool. It will be interesting to see how they compare to each other. To meet the visible Alien requirements, I'm building open cockpit vehicles. I'm currently playing with a half dozen or so vehicles and characters. All pretty much in the design stage, of course. I've got a gallery of basic models, but all the textures and such are placeholders.

So far I'm only using one model. But it's just to test the engine atm really. The ufos are all classic style disc shaped things with big clear bubbles on the top as canopies ... so you'll be able to see the alien.

As for the racing engine ... it's pretty much done ... it was fun to code.

Edit - Toilet Freak, you spelt equipped wrong ... sorry 'bout that.

I've been thinking about doing a political parody game using my old Terrascape engine, because although Terrascape is now scrapped in terms of future Banshee games (matrix' just don't cut it) I never have released a game using it.

It would be a fitting end for the Terrascape engine before I start working on the new Banshee world system using dynamic meshes.

Anyway i've got two releases this month to work on first, and then there's next months quota and working full time and... oh man, maybe nearer the deadline i'll thrash something out.
