oh, how i hate pro! I clicked "Save all" earlier and now my file is blank!!! WHat happened? How can i fix this???

Don't panic! First off, check for .bak file in same folder. Also IDE apprantley loads sometimes with a blank document. If .dba file is bigger than 0 bytes your code should still be there. Try reloading IDE and hope for the best. If code still won't reappear even though it is in .dba file, it may be cos .dbpro file is corrupt. Delete the project file (.dbpro), reload .dba file and let it rebuild project file.

More than likely all this info is a waste of time and you've lost everything! Simply load up a backup. "what's a backup", I hear everyone shout.

If your mansion house needs haunting, just call Rentaghost!

In IDE, I suggest you turn on the option that creates source file backups!

check your dba file

>rightclick>propertys>

untick "read only" or "archive", and see if it does anything when you save

sometimes windows can do some weird stuff

I've had this happen to me a couple of times, but everytime i have just been able to open the .bak version of the file and copy the code over. If you don't have a bak file and your funning dbpro, then i'm confused...

I can't do that.
The king of he potato people won't let me.

if you looked in your temp folder and havent started a new blank project then the bak file might be in there.

A recent copy of your source SHOULD still be in there, even if you started a new blank project.

Don't use 'Save All'. Use the 'Save Source' after source code edits. Use the 'Save Project' after project modifications.

Tip for all...

Download the Winzip batch command line program. Set it up to Add new and Update changed files in your projects folder. Now, use Windows scheduler to run at appropriate intervals.

Voila! An automated backup system that you never have to look at again! I have it set up to back up at 17:20 every day, thus saving my days work.

Using Windows scheduler, you can even set up multiple tasks to back up to a different file. To get up to 2 months worth of back up data, schedule one for each day of the week, one for the last day of each week, and one for the last day of the month.

My advice would be the ther way round actually - Save All is the best method I find.

This happens about once every 2 weeks with me.

This has happen loads with me. First make SURE there are no .bak files in your xyz.dbpro directory.

Then, and I'm repeating other advice here, check your .dba is > 0 bytes in size, if so open in notepad and and copy contents into blank file within dbp editor.

If you've made it here then you're doomed

I allways hit the save all button more that once.
I have winrar installed so every so often I right-click on the project dir and click "add to folder.rar" and it adds the dir contents to a rar file.

I just save the dba and verify its saved then store a copy
I dont mind recreating a new dbpro file for it later if required.
