I think its the other way round- file.tga to file.dds. A good free program to convert tga to dds is gimp but you will need to download a plugin to do this.

Nevermore.

lol, it is stupid that gimp supports at least 100 file formats but doesn't support DDS without a plugin

http://paint.net/
Download Paint.net, open the .tga file and re-save it as a .dds, it is that simple.

Why waste time with Paint.net Gimp...??

Just get DDS Converter 2 and convert files in a few secs...plain simple and easy to use the end..

no not rename... you need to convert them to DDS....

if the are already DDS files .... Make sure the FPE file refers to "whatever.TGA" as the texture file..

ok i will put the options forward without confusing.

tga is a name of a graphics file that draws on your in game objects.

dds is another name of a graphics file that draws on your in game objects.

both do the same job but tga does not work on x10, but dds does, this is because they are filed differently.

e.g. a nintendo ds will not play a game made for play station 3.

so you have to upload the tga picture on a program that will read tga files and that will translate into another format in this case dds.

so the programs that will do this is

dds converter.

paint.net

and gimp.

the first 2 are the easiest.

paint.net: just load in the picture, then once its loaded go to save menu, select save option, at the bottom of the opened window, open the browse part which will give multiple file options, select dds then save, and thats it.
in your files will be two files, one dds and one tga.
suggest erasing tga file.

hope that helps

Um..First, the segments are .bmp files. I converted them to dds anyways. But the segments still dont show up in game.

Here are 3 screenshots-

the first one is after i converted the segment (inner corner) to a dds file
the second is in fpsc
third is in the fpsc game

its in a word doc

ok well bmp pics are small icons for choosing menu. they are not the files to convert..

best way to find the files is by opening the fps or fpe files with note book.

follow down until you see
texture = title.dds or tga usually there is an adress you can follow or it is in the same files
