Is there any known problems with mp3 playback with dbpro? I am writing an archiving/playback application and have discovered that when i play back some mp3's there is a 'knocking' sound which is out of time with the music. This noise is not apparent using media player. Any help would be appreciated , cheers.

could be some corruption in the mp3 data, not sure.
Maybe it's evil virus code knocking on the door, trying to be let out!

Does it play properly in BASSMod/FMod ? If you like, you can sent me the MP3 and I'll see what its like in BASSMod & the standard MP3 system.

okay , ive cut a section out and resaved it as a 128k 44100hz stereo mp3 incase of encoding differences and the noise is still apparent. it plays nice in media player and music match. I will send you the sample Mr Tatoad to see if you have any insight

this is most bizarre , i think im going mental. Ive sent a copy to toady and 2 to my mates and they all say its fine (disregarding overall quality). My drivers are up to date ,my mp3s sound fine on other playback software yet i still hear this godawfull 'knocking'. ARGH it must all be in my head , im going to bang it off a wall

What I might do this evening is write a program to play it through BASSMOD, then you can see what it does with that.

Cheers toady , I have an Audigy 2 platinum , i have all the latest drivers for my system and my speakers seem to work fine. My mates coming round tonight to listen. I will find out later if i really am off my napper.

Waheyyy problem solved! ,it would appear to have been one of the codecs from the nimmo codec pack. Not sure which one but i uninstalled the pack and everythings sweet

Yeah, I've had that problem too. Any chance you can pinpoint what codec it is? I haven't got a clue whats on my system codec wise, so I wouldnt know where to start it annihilating the right codec.

i will look at the codecs it installs when i get a chance,but short of going through each one individually i cant be sure. you could just try removing them one at a time?
