Name of game entered:

Little bit about your game:

Any Hints / Tips about your game:

Direct link to your game (you can use sites like rapidshare and megaloader but don't link to a website where we have to find your game or register):

You've got until 8th February to get your game posted, after that your game won't be entered, sorry.

Also, please include a read me with the above information (so we know who you are!)

Name of Entrant: Gamer X

Name of game entered: World After Death

Little bit about your game:
In the far off future, the world was destroyed by a nuclear war. This war killed the world and made it barely livable to creatures. Over the years much of the radiation was removed and then humans began to colonize the wastes of the new world.

This story actually begins in the middle of, what use to be, the United States of America. A young soldier on his way to the capital wasteland was ambushed by some of the most radiated, nasty looking mutants and almost died there. A caravan group managed to scare off the mutants and escorted the unconscious body of the young soldier. They journeyed to the closes colony which was in an isolated town called Geiger Town. There they left the unconscious body with the local medical unit and then after they finished trading, left.

Any Hints / Tips about your game: The game can be ended at any time by go to the exit with the guard towers and pressing F. Not all the people are talkative but most are. There are only 2 quests. in quest 1 fire of 6 rounds into a target, then press F when near the intercom. the light enhancer given to the player is a tool you should use often when you can't see (Q activates it)

BECAUSE OF THE COMPLAINTS, HERE IS A WALKTHROUGH

Name of game entered: 2139

Little bit about your game: I modelled this after how I would roughly image nuclear war to affect a city. Not entirely destroy yet leave it uninhabited and sorta creepy(ish)

Any Hints / Tips about your game:I personally would use the flashlight a lot (F) and try not to waste ammo.

I forgot to include a read me, I'm sorry but I zipped it before I realized and my computer takes ages to zip folders for some reason so I didn't do it again.

Thanks dude, thats the very first full game that I have made. Sure I have plenty of experience as I normally make about 3 levels then get bored. This time I had something to motivate me. Thanks for your comment...it made me smile and made my day.

Thanks,

Ben

btw, I think we should stop 'spamming' this thread before nickeydude comes along

Sorry for posting this Nickeydude...I know you only wanted 1 post per person, but I wanted to ask if the contest rules changed? I thought we were capped at a media size of 200 meg?

Well I imagine he would be disqualified as the rule is clear. I guess the point is probably moot anyway as 5 entries were needed for the contest to go ahead. The cut-off date is tomorrow and only 2 are in

aww wtf? that sucks! I was soo pleased with that and it gets disqualified? Is there anyway I cut cut down the size using winzip or something? If not surelly you could make an exception?

EDITWhat if I were to post in 3 separate parts?

Sorry, the overall download can be no larger than 200mb, if people could download in parts then what's stopping them for creating 4 200mb files?

Seems like this competition hasn't fired the imagination like I thought it would.

Looks like this comp could very well be cancelled.

I just looked over the rules and nowhere does it say that we can only have one entry. So just if someone were to lets say enter 3 more crappy games the comp would still be on?

Lol!

Nice try but no, just one entry per person otherwise 'somebody' would walk away with at least 2 lots of prizes.

But seeing as at least a few people have put in an effort, a prize or two may be given.

Alright, I'll be sumbitting one. I've been having problems with building, so I'll have to cut out a few levels in order for it to work, but overall you should expect a game soon. Still working out the last kinks.

Alright, FPSC is being annoying, so here's my very limited entry. Only half of what I made....

Name: Shadowtroid

Name of game entered: FALL-IN: A Post Apocalypic Simulation

Little bit about your game: Basically, this is more recently after the nukes then most other games. In one of the last shelters, the electricity is gone, and you drew the shortest straw. It's very dangerous, but you are capable...

Unfortunatley, due to FPSC being FPSC, I had some constraints on this. Many graphic bugs aren't fixed, the first 2 levels don't have enemies (they didn't work), HUD and main menu are stick, and ambience is too high. Nevertheless, I wanted a chance at winning so I hope my level design will get me through.

Any Hints / Tips about your game: Like playing Fallout 3: Explore! I put lots of detail into the game, so look around and see what you can find. It may just help you in the long run...

@ Shadowtroid OK I just played it and it had very cool detail but very short, buggy, and underground the areas were very empty. Recommendation: Continue the game but not for this comp and work on detailing the underground. I know your FPSC isn't working that well like you said but when it get better.

It's small, but before Vishnu not so much.

Hope I get something for entering.

Shoot, I wish my game would've worked, however, FPSC, is ever vigilant at ruining any and all attempts to release something i've made. Sorry for not being able to enter, to help towards the 5 entry min.

After FPSC had decided to crash more times than an American Airlines plane, and all the dam waypoints and entities decided not to work (*sigh) I decided to just enter this first small level.

Name: Iceman

Name of game entered: Shadowland

Little bit about your game: Well, you are a renegade. After the war mutants roam about and the military broke up into mercenary groups. Your family was killed by them, and so you take it upon yourself to extract revenge for their deaths by bringing down the mercenary group responsible.
You manage to get over the mountain range and hide yourself away until dark in an abandoned water pumping tower. Then you make your way to the camp to kill, kill, kill...

However, because FPSC is refusing to play, there are several bugs. I used cosmics terrain and the entities don’t like it…esp for walk paths etc. The full game had you kill all in the camp then get into the small shack and uses a hidden lift to go down to an underground base...but I had to hack all that out just to get the game to build!...Sorry for that... but just enjoy it for what it is.

Any Hints / Tips about your game: Ammo is rare…but there is some extra very near where you start...Oh and there is no "end" to the game as the second level was removed, so just see if you can kill them all and be happy in their slaughter.

Name of Entrant: Medusa

Name of game entered: Fall Out City

Little bit about your game: Nuclear devestation is followed by chemical fallout. As the sole human survivor in your area you have to reach the rescue train. Three doors are involved so look for three keys. Reach the train and go forward to meet Aiko - end game.
If the spiders let you!

Any Hints / Tips about your game: simple just try to stay alive

Note: Had a nightmare with the last update and had to do a quick clean install of original fpsc version one so no fancy guns etc.
Managed to keep the file size below 50 megs - zipped at 35megs - as first rules required...did not realize the size had been increased till I read some of the other posts.

Yeah. I really liked my level design, but FPSC isn't working well. The first two levels were supposed to have enemies, and the 3rd level was thrown together quickly. But, I really liked the way it looked, so hopefully that will get me somewhere.

I'm afraid the comp is now closed. There was more than enough time for people to upload their entries and it needed 5 entries to take place, unfortunately there were only 4 and one of them I couldn't extract so I'm afraid the comp is cancelled.

I'd like to that all those who took the time and effort to at least create something and although the stated prizes won't be given out I'm sure we can provide something for those who entered.

I'm extremely disappointed as the prizes on offer were great and the theme was something that could be done, especially in 3 months.

Perhaps this will be the last of the Xmas comps, we shall see.

so you really couldn't get mine to work? Did you try gorlock suggestions thing of extracting to a different folder?

p.s The day isn't up. I could upload a crappy game, that makes 5 and i would only walk away with 1 prize...

Well hey, at least that is something. Looking forward to whatever prize it is!!

Thanks for trying to sort this out for us Nickydude, it was fun...and frustrating. I hope its not the last of the xmas compos tho, Bcos by this xmas I will hopefully have a better FPSC update making it more stable.

I'll give it another try like has been mentioned then I'll get back to you. Unfortunately there were only 4 entries so the comp is null and void (and no, adding more 'crappy' levels to make up the numbers is not allowed!)
