Dark GDK / Unable to load 3D objects

When I attempt to load a simple 3D object, my window goes black.

This was written by TCG for a tutorial so it must be right. Perhaps something is not installed right, or something is left unconfigured? Colonel-X.X exists, and is in the correct folder.

do you have the latest gdk update? look at the sticky, get the first download link, install it ( manually ) then scroll down the page and patch it, there is another download
