I'm interested in porting DaskBasicPro to .NET and PocketPC with DX9.

If you are not already planning it .. would you be open to a proposal?

Who can I contact about it?

I have already sent an email via the website a week ago with no response.

The Pocket PC 2003 has DX( and .NET built in.

The port can be to .NET or C++ for PPC.

Thanks in advance.

I was also wondering something similar but I don't know if it is possible. Can DBP (the core classes/libs/dlls) somehow be packaged into some sort of SDK that could be used in VB6/VB.NET via a reference in the project. Like in vb6 for example, if I want to write a Database program using ADO I have to make a Reference to the ADO COM Object, then instantiate objects in my vb app. Sorry if I am confusing in my wording...
In other words is it possible to program against the DBP Core without using "DBP" the language/ide. My goal would be to reference DBP from VB6/VB.NET and to do all development under the those languages instead of DBP, yet have all of the same access to all of DBP's functions etc etc.

Converting to a PocketPC is the funniest thing I've read... Pocket PC's dont have the power (or the routines) for Direct3D, so the only thing your left with is the sprite part of Direct3D (unless your sticking with Direct7/8).

Trying to convert DBPro to a PPC processor (hence a Mac) would be nice, but not cost effective.

You may need to take another look ... PPC2003 has full DX9 support and incidently .. the PPC runs Quake 2 rather well ...

porting to a PPC is simply impossible since they only have OpenGL and DBP is DirectX

but on Mac you can use virtual PC 6.1, should work without any problem

Never seen a Pocket PC 2003 with a full DX9 system, unless your thinking of a different type of Pocket PC's...

You can try e-mail Rich, but I dont think you'll get very far...

I'm not sure about direct3D, but I know pocket PCs have had some directX capability for some time. The latest version may support Direct3D 9 in a limited fashion.

As for power, the newest PPCs are running 400 MHz chips with 64 megs of RAM. That may not be enough for Unreal Tournament, but it's by no means unusable for 3D

And as for my post above the answer is YES but not with DB, look into TrueVision 6. Sorry if this ruffles some feathers but there are other alternatives to encapsulated directx programming, aside from DBC/P. If you program in VB/VB.NET and want an OOP option give it a look.
