Hi,

I have plan to publish a magazine about FPS Creator.
If U have some interesting text about script, creating levels
and whatever about FPSC it could be useful.
Tell me what do U think about this idea?

Best

Ooh. That'd be cool. Would you write articles/reviews of games also? (Sorry if I ask stupid questions...)

Unless you get the go ahead from TGC, this will only be a dream I believe.

And even if you did get TGC's permission, I'd rather not have FPSC overrun by 4/5ths of the population trying to make new games. :/

All the best,
NimmDae

Life's just a game.

..it was probably made using FPSC.

if everyone in the whole world makes a game then no one would be left to buy them, we all would be in a mess.

Depends what you mean by "makes a game". I still buy and play video games even though I use FPS Creator. And I'm sure the majority of gamers/developers on this forum do as well. It's not like 4/5 of the population would move on to become AAA developers after reading about FPS Creator from Mr Game's magazine, flood the game market with billions of commercial titles, lose interest in buying/playing games, and cripple the video game industry . Besides, out of the 200+ pages of WIP threads here so far, how many of those games have you seen selling on a store shelf, and their developers retired at the ripe old age of 17?

When I see more people using FPS Creator, I see more forum contributors, more free media, more FPSC mods, and more improvements to FPS Creator. The more the better

what i see is a lot of people buying it, but i could be wrong, I herd it was on store shelves and well, I never ever saw it in stores. but thats not my point, my point is the more compitishion the harder it is for us.

I don't think that would be too big of a concern. I can't see Mr Game's magazine recruiting 10,000 aspiring game developers to these forums overnight. And like I said, how many of the 2,000 games started in the WIP section (including mine ) over the last several years have actually seen a store shelf to provide any of that "competition"? How many games here have even made it past a short, single level demo before the developer gave up or lost interest in the project? Less than one percent?

Personally, I would welcome any new or current members to "raise the bar" around here, throw out a commercial game, and inspire/encourage everyone else (including myself) to keep working on their own projects. If I ever saw one of the games in the WIP board here, sitting next to Modern Warefare 2 at my local Walmart one day, I'd probably never leave my computer until I finished my own game. Bring on the competition!

@Mr Game, you're welcome to add any FPSC tutorials I release on the forums to you magazine. Just make sure my name's in there somewhere!

@Kravenwolf
Thanx for tutorials

Global magazine will be in English language
but I also consider another language version
(German, French, Russian and my native Polish)

Should I have permission of Richard Vanner to make this magazine?

I think it would be best, especially if it makes its way to a physical magazine.

And, if you want, I could write something, or whatnot.

Always want to do my part.

My best guess would be somewhere between 0 and 1 person. I mean, who would really want to pay for a digital magazine written by amateurs when even many professional magazines cannot get anyone to pay? Ask yourself if you want to pay to read news online...

If you want to write about FPSC that fine but don't expect that anyone will actually pay for it. Most of what you write about is probably already available online in some form.

Just my piece of reality check

I think FPSC might be too narrow of a subject...think about it, how many people actually know/use FPSC? I live in southern california and I'm honestly surprised that I'm like the only person who has even heard about it (I mean considering how many companies there are around here). Basically, the only people who'd be interested in reading about FPSC would be the people who are already here on the forums. If you want to be successful you'll probably have to broaden your target audience, maybe include a section for UDK and Unity as well. Maybe get writers/editors who use those engines. Something like that would appeal to many more people. There have been a few attempts at doing FPSC magazines and stuff, but none of them lasted very long due to lack of interest

I wanna develop FPSC game (with advert about this magazine) and not only for current FPSC user but finaly for everyone who want to make game like mine. Surely FPSC is way to many more programs like 3d modelling, photo editing, move maker, sound and more...
It could be first world wide magazine based on creating game with the easiest engine and therefore for everyone (without C++ knowledge). Thanx for opinions

It's ok with your optimism but you should know that there has been countless attempts at making regular FPSC magazines, video reviews etc. before you and all have failed or faded away without anyone really noticing.

Ok, so you want to:
1. Create a great game to get everyone excited.
2. Create a magazine on how to make exciting games like yours.
3. People will read you mag and create more exciting games.

Currently you are at step 0 with all these big ideas.

I wish you the best of luck because you are going to need it

Hey mr game. I started on a magazine but i didnt have the time to complete it. If you want we can have a team up. It would make work easier for the both of us and means that my work would not go to waste. Heres what i have completed in my mag:

Mod list and guide,
Model pack list and guide,
Started writing a guide to both X9 and X10,
Interviews with several people (Errant, Ply, S4, Cosmic, Bond1),
Possibly BTOB guide depending upon how molten byte feels about it (I converted it into RTF format from a blog).

I think one of the interviews never got back but i do have the original source material and a bit of the original interview.

I think that it would be great to get a magazine for FPSC out there and on the shelves. Perhaps get some competitions up with it with a decent amount of prize money and perhaps some deals with TGC (as if this goes hard copy that will increase sales for FPSC or X10).

I would also really like to possibly get mine and my teams new WIP in an official mag when the time comes for release.

I saw it in stores here in finland after I bought it! There was hundreds of them!!!

But I'd rather prefer to read it in the internet, cause I wouldn't propably be able to read it from here, unless I start ordering it from somehere out there and it would cost... 1,2,3,4,5... hmm... (counting wiht fingers)... a lot of money. So I'd prefer it in the internet.

Part of the reason for expanding to not only FPSC but also UDK/Unity is because a lot of developers are moving on to other engines...personally I'd love nothing better than to give my game some exposure, magazine or otherwise (see my sig for screenshots) but it's being made in Unity, not FPSC

.....
Deal with TGC would be necessary and crucial
so I will contact with Rick V.
and maybe some sponsors could be support printing (in return for advert) or even magazine with CD.

.......
I work with Adobe Indesign so I know how to technically make a magazine.

......
BTW The most important at this moment for me now is to develop and publish my game project (I am in touch with 4 global famous publishers). So the magazine will be my second goal

Almost certainly yes, if you wish to use any images/texts/screenshots anywhere from the TGC site you'll need to ask permission. Overall it's best to ask TGC about the magazine in general and they'll give you a better knowledge of what you can and can't do.
