Hi!
I am trying to convert a game source from DB to DBPro. I have 5 differnet dba files and a main file where I include them. My main problem is that in the DBP editor when there is a syntax error in a file, it gives me a wrong line number! For example it sais line 686 when the error is at line 2018 and line 686 is a blank line!!!

More specifically it gives me the error: "Variable 'type' name is not valid at line 686". Ok I found where the error was! But it was 1500 lines below!!!

Any ideas?

Yes, it's a problem.
More importantly, delete the "#include" lines in your main source file, and simply add the included files to the project.

If you do both, it goes big time screwy!

It won't fix your line numbering problem, though it will stop spurious errors that never existed in the first place.

I tend to move a function into the main source file when editing, then move it back out when I'm happy with it. The error reporting is more accurate that way.

Yeah, i think i might put this in the Bug report section, because it has been reported by numerous people, including me

I can't do that.

Yes, I did, sorry if I forgot to respond on the other thread.

This DBC to DB Pro learning curve is quite steep. The language and syntax is fine, but you get used to all the glitches and quirks of a language, and forget they were ever there. Then you start again with a new version...

I don't really se any reason why it can#t be fixed. SO what if your company goes bust? That shouldn't have affected the IDE work. You can still release an upgrade, no?

I dont think Guy wants to, especially as RGT as a company is out of buiness.

Unfortunately the editor code isn't availiable either.

Okay. Seems a weird reason, I see no reason why he couldn't want to, maybe he wants to try and forget about DB and start anew?
