Hello everyone, its me, Khaos again. Me and a friend of mine are working on a game, currently we are developing a level in which you need to break out of prison. So far we have decided that we want the character to breakout at night, the only problem is, we don't know how we should do it.

The cell has bars for the doors (the bars cannot open) so we can't escape through that, I have HoleZ and so I could escape through the wall if anyone has ideas how I could pull that off. We are also giving the character a knife.

Does anyone have any ideas of how we could pull off a breakout in the prison? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you

trigger zones are you freind in this case, or you could use a destructible wall.or use a vent system to where you esscape from a vent.

Thanks Daniel, but how would I use trigger zones to escape? I tried the destructible wall but I just couldn't find any realistic solution to break the wall. I thought of a vent system, but the player can't get out of his cell, and prisons don't put vents like that is prison cells.

well you could do a detrucible wall in front of a vent, this would be cool, there are vents behind cell walls. give the player hands as weopens and they could break the wall down with that then use the vent.

Use your knife to carve a brick out of the cell wall. Then cut yourself into small pieces and pass them through the hole.

Would you by any chance have a needle and thread?

Hm, thanks Daniel, I'm going to try that vent idea of yours

Maybe I'll try that next if the vent thing doesn't work lol

There wouldn't be a vent in a cell.

There isn't a level of inmate that would be locked down 24 hours a day (against the US Constitution), assuming you're talking about a US-style prison. Most escapes occur on transportation runs, but I won't go into how.

My suggestion would be a tunnel that you have been digging for sometime (possibly a hole in the wall, if you are having problems with putting holes in floor segments), yet camouflage during daylight hours. Then use some tunnel segments that take you past the fence-line. The knife could be used to chip away at the false wall you built previously.

I only mentioned it, because we had a close call in one of the prisons in my area, that involved just that.

That would be the wall patch you made out of prison pudding. It's not just for desert you know.

Yes, the tunnel idea is a good idea, but that would be a problem because how we have the story set up right now is that an agency came to you the day before your execution date, gave you an earpiece, and said they would contact you later "when its safe." We're planning on a voice to come over the earpiece in the middle of the night, direct you to the knife in your cell, and give you step by step instructions of what to do while your going throughout the prison trying to breakout.

EDIT:

Also, if I did go with that idea, how would I put a hole in the floor? I imagine I could put an entity for a wall and break it with the knife, but is there any other way? Thank you

Yeah Shawshank style - put a poster over a hole in the wall. Make a simple "door" style script for the poster that turns off collision so can go through it. Or get fancy and animate the poster moving to the side before turning off collision.

"Andy Dufraine crawled through a mile of s*** and came out clean on the other side"
"Get busy living or get busy dying."

Or go GoldenEye style, have a guard on a waypoint walk by, murder him with a knife hidden in your bed, then have him drop a key.

Haha, I've never played that in GoldenEye, but funny you should say that because we were going to do that EXACT thing, but the problem is that waypoints don't seem to work too well for me in FPSC, I make the waypoint, set the character to follow.fpi, and it just walks in place. Additionally the entities we are using as the prison bars don't open at all

You could put ab object in front of a small hole in the wall, making the player have to move that object out of the way to make their escape. Something maybe this agency put there for use to escape or something. Silly idea but just throwing it out there.

Follow.fpi is for following the player, not a waypoint, if I remember right. Pace.fpi is for following waypoints.

SekoIdiootti, "follow.fpi" is for following waypoints. "pace.fpi" is for following waypoints, but if the player is seen, then leave the waypoints and shoot the player.

Best,
