Here is a model of a astrofighter I created.
There problem I'm haveing is I can't texturemap it correctly or nicely. Can someone please help me make it look somewhat kewl?
It's for a game I'm makeing and I'm not really good at the modelling aspect of things. Sometimes I'm able to produce nice models but crappy textures ruin the whole process. If you are will to help me just with this one model you can have it for your own collection to do with it as you will.

Thanks,
Peace,
and
out!

@ScottyB:

I've textured your spaceship and changed it a bit (added a cockpit). Don't know if you'll like it (would like your opinion though), so here ya go:

Beam it up, Scotty!

Thank You!
I like it alot. Make me wanna continue makeing my 3d-asteroid program.
Seriously, I'm pretty good at makeing these things but suck at painting them. The model is your now completely free of use. I would like to see more variations though if you feel like being creative. You've done alot better then I could.

And as a surprize I've included a couple more for you to tinker with and as usual you get to keep them for your library free all's I'm asking is you try to send me your texturemap and model upgrades of them.

And Thanks a billion.

You're welcome, glad I've helped! And thanx!

Do you mean the same model, but different textures to go with it? Or do you want some enhancements to your models (like lasercanons or things like that)?

Quote: "I've included a couple more for you to tinker with "

I'll see what I can come up with. First I'm going to eat, 'cuz my stomach is making some weird noises.

@Scotty:

Just to let ya know I'm working on those models. But, one thing: could you post the individual parts (from your construct11.x and the usa10.x models) as seperate objects? It would be a lot easier to texture them seperatly, and the detail would be a lot higher and better. I'm working on the others too, but I have a lot of other things to do aswell, so it'll take some time to get them done, okay?

Cheers

Don't forget to beam those models up, hey?

Slayer there is a problem in the way I constructed.
1.) I made them as I went. did'nt save parts.
2.) usa model is missing spokes on top wheel.

Can you please just do what you can? and skip usa one.
There are still lots there you can mess with.
Take your time and get back to me. please.
Whatever you can do to help is appreciated.
the model pack had (some) kewl ones you can mess with.
starship,rocketship,u.f.o.,bombs and missle are some ones I plan on using.
So see what you can do to them. (please)

I do see from now on while building 3d models save all parts would be helpful in texuremappiing. I'll try to remember that.

here is an old use though not in part it's complete.

@Scotty:

I've done some more texturing for your models. I've re-textured the 'spaceship01.x' model, so now there's two textures that you can use for that model. Just open the 'spaceship01.x' -file with a text-editor, and change the image-filename at the top (do you know what I mean?)
I've also textured the mothership, and one invader-model.
I hope you like them??
I am now busy with some other models, and I'll get back to you when they're ready.
So, beam those models up, and good programming!

Cheers

Thank you very much slayer for helping me out so much.
I like your work and your motivating me make more models in the near future. Is there a way I can keep in touch with you? for future refrence like maybe an e-mail address? not to be pokeing into your life too much but I would like to give you credit for the stuff you do in my programs. So name and other info please send me. Also I would like to keep on doing the same things with you. i.e. sending you models that I make and haveing you paint them sincee I'm not good at that. If it's alright by you? I will be eager to hear and see more from you and once again thank you for helping me out.

Hello Slayer it's me again.
You want me to beam up some more models.
So here is some more of mine.
There some of the first ones I've made on my own like the others.
Crellion Ship is a cargo spacecraft. ect...

The main problem I was haveing was my modelling abilities were getting better but... I could'nt paint them for nothing but now that your helping me your makeing me wanna get back into makeing more. If we continue to work together we could come up with originals without paying for them! These models were made for a space invaders clone a year ago but I got fustrated with them since I could'nt finish them off. I picked space models first to model because there is'nt much moveing/animation in them.

Once again see what you can do with them and get back to me and also you deserve 1/2 credit for each you help me with so please tell me some personal info so I can include you when I use them in my games and as always since your helping you get to keep and use any of them any way you want in your stuff. Like totally free not pay and have royalty free.

Thanks,
Peace,
and
out!

Scotty:

I'm back with some more textured models. I've done three more. I really hope you'll like them?? I zipped all the models (including the previous textured models).
There was some trouble with loading the proto01e.x model into Truespace, and the models 'newiinvaderhightdef.x' and 'ring02.x', did'nt load at all, even in the directx-viewer.
I also had to redesign the proto01b.x model, so I hope it suits your needs?
I've included everything you need to know about me, so we can stay in touch and do some more modelling and texturing stuff together, maybe even do some model-packs for free (help the community), and maybe some non-free modelpacks?
Anyway, let me know if you like the textured models, okay?
I'll do the others as soon as possible, but I'm also trying to get my game 'SUPER-BRIX' finished for the Intel AppUp Store, so don't panic if it takes a while, okay?

Good programming.

They look awesome slayer! Keep up the good work!
Good luck with your entry. Get back to me when you can with the other models. I'll keep looking back at this post now and then.
Meanwhile... Maybe, I'll do some other ones in my spare time.
I'm currently working on a lunar lander program right now. I'm hopeing though we could get lots of models ready before I go back to my 3d-asteriods program or space invaders clone. Since were starting to build up a collection it would be nice to see them in action in the near future.

Once again thanks for all the help and also my models would be to much without your nice paint jobs. So really thanks!

I also got your e-mail so I try getting in touch with you if I don't hear from you in awhile.

Wow! Slayer! Just checked out the new textures and man I'm really impressed with construct and missle. Can't find any flaws. What I'm about to say please don't take wrong. repeat please don't take wrong. You brilliant at painting compared to me but... I see some miner flaws so have them while others don't. The shearing it seems like certain textures running say down like on the side of the mothership. I know this is hard to fix. This was the problems I ran across doing it myself. So of your other models don't have this problem at all like construct top. awesome! definely a keeper. but... if you look at one of the invaders the top is reflected on bottom also this is what I mean there's times when it needs to be maybe mapped a different way i.e. box, sphere, to give a couple of ways of doing it. that way lithunwraper is free and is good at giving you a bunch of ways to get your basic outlines of your polys onto a texture. I'm not trying to degrade your work but this stuff is hard business. that's why there so expansive to buy. Where both learning here so don't get fustrated as you give me the motivation to produce better work as well. but overall your painting skills are tremediously awesome!!!!!!!!

So I hope your not mad at me that is just some constructive suggestions. I'll keep makeing more models as some of your work is A++ and your encourgeing me to try harder as well.

Thanks,
Your Friend in cyberspace!

Thanx, Scottie! Glad you liked them!

Yeah, I know. But because your last game was with a top view camera, I assumed that it would'nt be a problem to have it textured like that. But, I'll keep that in mind for our future models. And yeah, some models are hard to texture due to there shape. That's why it's sometimes better (and easier) to seperate some parts of the model, to make the texturing part easier and more refined.

Quote: "So I hope your not mad at me that is just some constructive suggestions. I'll keep makeing more models as some of your work is A++ and your encourgeing me to try harder as well."

No, don't worry, Scottie. No hard feelings. And thanx again for your good comments.

BTW, I'll redo the mothership and the invader, and continue with the others.

Cheers

Hey Slayer,
It's me again. Just whipped up a space model in parts like you wanted.
parts a-d and completed hybrid model.
If you want you can work on this so you can show me what you meant by refined detail.
I'd like to have to versions for two player games.
Hope you like it.
Thanks for being understanding also.
Peace over and out!

Sorry about that. I screwed up. Forgot to re-calculate normals on the outside.
So here's the fixed version with a correct texturemap. (outline)
Now It only needs to be painted.

Thanks
and once again sorry.

I'd like it to be the same for top and bottom but...
windows on the side would be nice.
Also you can box map the model and the texture map with still wrap around it fine and it will be easier to paint.

Hey Slayer,
Tis' me once again.
I just threw another space model together this morning.
Attached is the low-poly and high-poly for vertex painting.
Hope you like it.

This is your chance to add a couple of parts if you like.
It could use some lazer cannons and engine.
See what you can do.

Peace!

Scotty,

Bad news. I got an error when loading your galactic05.x model into Truespace. I looked at the .x file, and it seems that the file was'nt saved as ASCII. So, you should check your export or saving settings. And the two last models (space03.x and space04.x) have some bad data and did'nt load at all.

Ok, Slayer...
I think I saw what you meant.
Here's the binary and text versions of all the .x files includeing texturemaps to be painted.

Is this what you meant?
.x files save as binary and text?

Yeah, that's what I meant. However, the .3ds files loaded in nicely too.

Quote: "p.s. How's the painting comeing along? "

I'm working on them. However, I'm pretty busy with that Intel contest, but when I have free time, I'll continue with texturing those models, is that good for you?

BTW, thanks for sending in the texturemaps, but sometimes it's easier that I do them myself, since there are times that I would like to texture individual faces of the model.

Cheers

O.K. That's good.
You can re-texturemap them anytime time you like. I was just messing around with different ways to unwrap them. Sometimes one way looks better than other way.
I know your busy. I just wanted to send you some new stuff that I've been working on since you encourged me to continue on modelling.
Hope your program is comeing along for the contest. I don't have any that are done or I would enter myself.
I'll be gone for the weekend going on vacation til' sunday that should give you some time to work on some stuff. Hopefully, you can surprize me when I get back home as I love to see your work and what you do with my models. If you continue to paint my stuff then I'll keep on trying to produce more of them.

p.s. Good Luck! in competition!
