Wilst Ive got BSP working and I am looking forwards to creating some great levels, I still get the problem of falling through solid ground.

Is this a DBPro problem? Or is there a technique to get around this? I'm very close to completing code that will allow the creation of a full, commercial FPS game but I can't even release a demo till I resolve this!!!

It is a dbpro problem and happens mainly when you walk up a step. Its been reported but they havent fixed it yet

What bsps are you using, this always happens on my q3 levels, i havent tried h/l levels on dbpro recently

This is fixed in Upgrade 5.1. Email me and I'll send you a replacement DLL to try (the one from 5.1, which we'll release in a few weeks time).

Cheers,

Rich

you won't fall thru the floor if you set a dummy object, attach the camera to it, and set BSP Collision on the dummy object and the camera

cheers

That wont work cos the object collision doesnt work properly either, at least with q3 maps cos i havent bothered using h/l maps

I tried the dummy thing and sometimes the dummy falls through, but not the camera which drags across the floor. Ive also tried a delay on the gravity to avoid the "leaks" but doesn't seem to work either.

As for falling through stairs, I also seem to fall through flat floors!?!

I did have some other problems when I loaded P5 but I'll wait for P5.1 to see how it goes.

Thanx for replying.

are you trying to use bsp col and standard col on the same object? This definitely won't work. Form my experience if you use a dummy obj for bsp col, bsp col on the camera, and a second dummy obj for auto standard col, everything should work except automatic col wont backtrack, but you can still register the collisions correctly. this is a Confirmed bug, but you still shouldn't fall thru -AS FAR AS HL BSPs are concerned. Mayber further problems exist with Quake bsps
I did experience falling thru when messing with two collision types on One objects - they would sort of cancel eachother, or better, flip flop between which col type had priority...

hopefully this will all be sorted out in the next few patches
