Like billions before me I decided to make a WW2 game. It's about a german soldier who rebels against the german army. I've already got the story figured out but I need help with the levels. Up til now I've made 3 levels. I welcome any suggestions or ideas for the game. However I have some questions that I would like to ask since it impedes me of taking my project further.

QUESTIONS:

1-I have problems whith the edges of my levels. I don't want the character to fall off the edge of the level but I don't want to just put a wall to block the view either. Can I put an invisible barrier of some sort? Any other strategies that I can use to make outdoor levels look more vast?

2-I saw interesting material here. The are 2D plants and trees, there is tall grass, the sky and horizon are different and also the road and the grass have a texture that "blends" them together. How can I do all that? Does it necessary involve using 3d world studio?

3- What's the difference beetween shoot.fpi and shoot10.fpi

4- Any ww2 packs you would recommend besides the standard one?

Thanks for your patience and I hope you can enlighten me with your knowledge!

1.Look into the ocfpscguide in FPS Creator/Docs folder for transparency texturing, a great source of info. 2.The shrubs appear to be a billboard( a flat plane with a bush texture and alpha on the upper part). The small bits of grass are an entity, and the road and grass are ground segments. Not sure about the blending thing. You can change the sky in the setuplevel.fpi found in the languagebank\english\gamebank\mygame folder. There is a program from DTISkies, I think it's called Skies that helps you create your own skies. A search should find it.3. The two shoot .fpi's appear to be exactly the same.4.http://fps-media.mk-tek.com/index.php?option=frontpage

Wow, thanks so much! I will read the section of the ocfpsguide you mentioned. I'll also check the links you gave me and will try to make my own entities and segments (first time doing it).

--> Billboard pack by Marc Steene- link is http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=160850&b=24

These packs have helped us to develop our game WW2- Germany's Uprising.

Best of luck. If you get stuck and need some info, help, etc, feel free to e-mail me.

Edit: Sorry Marc. I added your billboard just after you posted.

There you go mate. I added the links for you to find easier. Hope that helps.

Cheers

Mike

Good idea for a story and true to life.

There were factions of Germans which helped liberate Jews and other oppressed people and even killed their own in the process. The penalty for this if caught was inhumane though so those minority groups were either crazy or had a very big pair.
