It's been done a few times, but never caught on. People would rather come here and use the forum like an instant messenger.

There is no control in a chat room and people can say whatever they wish. This quickly leads to fights and no way to stop them. )unless you have an advance chat system and 24/7 MODs who are quick on the buttons. Also, chat rooms quickly become more of a toy than a tool. They can be fun though.
