Is it possible to achieve ball physics in FPSC X9? (e.x, a ball rolling along a surface) Or a way to bounce entities?

Not as far as I know as that's something I've tried to do.

I'm sure I managed to get a ball to work in FPSC!, Can't remember how though.

this seems like something that should be very easy. it is in pretty much EVERY SINGLE OTHER GAME ENGINE 2D or 3D

I have tried making a ball in FPSC but have never actually made one that could roll around like a real ball. Simple physics and pushing it works fine however. If anyone has a solution it is most welcome.

Make the ball weight heavier?

I came up with this to get it rolling.

Not exactly a ball example and the barrel is too dark to prove any real roll is happening. Not to sound rude but a round textured and lighted ball would be better.

I noticed in FPSC. Entity's don't rotate unless pushed or thrown. They just slide across the floor as if the floor is ice. Never really seen one roll. In that video I noticed that the barrell just slid down the stiars. Couldn't see any rotation. Even tho the barrell was 95% black.

This is what I asked about in the migration discussion thread. FPSC's physics engine is good, but I think it is capable of much more. If more physics properties could be added such as ball/barrel-types, and if the features were expanded, the physics engine might almost be Havok-quality! The fact that we are now getting a timer-based physics engine already might be a good indicator of what we could expect in the future!

BTW, objects can bounce. I remember pushing a crate down a few sets of stairs and it bounced and tipped over realistically. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to barrels; they would just slide down. You can even get things to bounce manually with the "triggerforce" command.

Scurvy Lobster and 4125

You guys are right. i gave it another texture to make a new video and it did not roll.

my mistake, i made it in 10 minutes and in my level it realy gave me the feeling it actualy rolls.

SORRY!!

No harm done. Let's just hope we get "real" physics in a later update

It seems like the entities should be a polygonal collision instead of it detecting a bounding box collision around the entity...

It might just be a dream, but I think I saw my barrel rolling some time ago. Really long time ago!!!

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things that I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

All dynamic entities have box collision, so whether it's a crate, a ball, or Cthulhu, it'll act like a cube/cuboid...

Try walking on the "bouldera" under scifi/furniturea (also in the volcano example).

The reason that their is no Ball physics is because all dynamic entities use Box collision.
A model with box collision cannot roll.

If you had read Kalinka's post above and watched the video, you'd see that ball physics is possible.
