Ok, i guess the peeps who helpes me fix this last time are sick of me by now. But i need help again. I know, i'm a pain in the ass. I have 2 problems with the code this time. I'm still working on putting in the engine components such as health, game overs, the bullets, baddie collisions, etc. So i've set up a fairly basic system here, which is easy to understand if ya look at the code. 2 problems. First one:
Sometimes, when i shoot the bad guy, it crashes and says "Sprite not found at line 185". This is confusing as i don't see what's missing.
The other error is obvious when you run the code-it's very jumpy. I checked the FPS and it came up with 133fps so it can't be that-iwas wondering if it was something to do with the timers? The layout of the code perhaps? Some thing's wrong and i can't figure it out. Anyone out there who can help me be less of a newb would be my saviour. -DivW

After line that says 'delete sprite 2' put 'exit'

Your problem is while looping thru bullets to see if any hit baddie, you delete the baddie sprite but carry on checking rest of bullets. But you can not check collison between any more bullets and a non existant baddie!

Code runs really smoothly on my pc. No jerkiness at all.

Thanks spooky. I'll put that code in when i get home. No jerkiness, huh? that's weird. My Specs are GeForce 4 MX 440, 1200 Athlon, 256 RAM. Well it's a very stange thing indeed. Maybe it's tie to defrag my disk (That time of month i guess, i think my computer may be female from time to time she acts up a lot ) Anyone else get Jerkiness? (In their code...) -DivW

if anybody else says GEforce 4mx are slow I will club them with the blunt end of one ,they are slow compared to a GeForce 4 ti, they are faster than a GeForce 2 but slower than a GeForce 3 ti (from toms hardware benchmarkes)and they don`t realy support shaders that well, they can run Unreal Tourney, QuakeIII, Return to Castle Wolfenstien, Halflife and mods, Creatures and most other 3D intensive games at a reasonable rate, they should realy have been sold as a GeForce 2 ti+ or a GeForce3 mx lite IMO, but for the price it was not that bad a buy at the time (£50-£60 can`t remember exactly), and you still see them on the shelves, they are an improvement over the TNT2 cards or any SiS or Intel chipset anyway, just cos they are not cutting edge does not make them that bad, (though I will be replaceing mine with a FX come the time the doctors let me back to work and money starts coming in again )

It can't be that bad. I can run morrowind with all the settings at full with hardly any slowdown. But i'm dying to get a superfast GeForce FX. Oh well. I think the jerkiness was something up with my computer. It didn't happen just now when i ran it. Which is strange. And i put that Exit in, and i got the same sprite not found error-but i see what you mean, so i'm working on fixing that just now. Thanks for the tip! (And i only paid £35 for my GeForce 4 MX440. Which is a little bit strange now i come to think about it...but it's definately a GeForce 4 MX440, so maybe i conned someone by mistake. Whoops )

Its not too bad, but whack up the anti-aliasing and you can really see it struggle.

Tell me about it. Set high and my computer turns into a paperweight.
